Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis apartment hotel is in a fantastic location for a city trip to Lisbon, being very close to tube and buses and in walking distance of many of Lisbon's attractions. The apartment is attractive, big and well equipped, though dark in the daytime. The street has many small restaurants all with interesting menus and several good breakfast places too. There is a supermarket right opposite which is handy as well as quite a few small grocery stores. The only downside is having to walk up a flight of stairs on arrival and not ever meeting any staff. However, we would thoroughly recommend this place..get the Bolt app on your phone as this is very convenient to get to out of the way places you may want to visit..we enjoyed day trips to Sintra and Cascais (we travelled by train to both).

United KingdomThe bathroom was a little old, there was some water leaking from the sink onto the floor.
The location was excellent, very central and easy to access. We were happy to find that there was not much uphill walking required to get back to the apartment. We really liked the decor of the place as well. The entrance was particularly impressive. Our host Miguel was very welcoming, and allowed us to store our luggage in the room as we had a late evening flight.

United StatesWe hated that we were only in town for two nights and didn't stay longer.
This apartment was fantastic and even better than the pictures. Our welcome was quick and efficient. The room itself was large and comfortable. We especially appreciated the water and the welcome drink of Port wine. The bathroom was clean as was the room. The bed was fantastically comfortable, which isn't common for Portuguese beds. The location is convenient for restaurants and shopping. (We had our dogs with us and Zenith Brunch is right around the corner and extremely dog friendly.)

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
The room was gorgeous in a wonderful old building. Some fabulous restaurants in the same street, so not far to head home after a great meal. Handily placed for walking to the metro (very efficient, clean and easy to use) or the city centre. Miguel is a very fine host and gave us numerous recommendations for our stay.

NetherlandsAlmost nothing, only for the people who will travel to the place by rental car must be careful as the street is narrow and there are not many parking places on the street.
Mercador is located in the center of Lisbon, although it is isolated from busy and noisy parts of the city. It is located in a narrow street, where a lot of classic and hipster cafes/restaurants are nearby. The ALDI supermarket is literally across the building, only 10 meters away. It is very close to the lovely walking street Liberdade. The best thing about the place is architecture and interior design. The high ceilings with chic furniture, sculptures, chandeliers and the whole concept is lovely. You simply would like to be in the apartment. Wi-fi is fast the TV has casting option and you can log in with your streaming accounts (really handy if you have a little kid). The host Miguel was kind, replied our messages fast and came up with all types of suggestions, from restaurants to cafes, tips etc. He even gave us 2 restaurant recommendations for our last stop in south Portugal. So kudos to him, specially.

AustraliaThe shower rose needs adjustment. It makes it difficult to have a comfortable shower. As management are not on the premises it was sometimes difficult to have questions answered quickly. Storage of luggage after check-out was a concern. Luckily no-one was coming in on the day we were leaving so we were kindly given permission to leave our luggage in the apartment. It was something we hadn’t thought about as we usually stay in hotels.
The apartment was very beautifully decorated. It is in an old 16th monastery. It has a tiny kitchenette with everything you need, a sofa and dining table and chairs. It is in a fantastic location with an Aldi across the road and just behind the Avenue de Liberdade. Good restaurants are in the neighbourhood.
