Our stay at Palheiro Village was an absolutely wonderful stay. Our villa/hotel had an excellent view of the sea and city of Funchal. It was clean and very spacious. The staff up at the Forum were so friendly and helpful and the meals were delicious as well. If and when we return to Palheiro we will only stay here as it truly was the best place with exceptional views and a superb staff. Thank you for an extra special holiday!

PortugalOur house was beautiful and comfortable. Kitchen was well equiped and staff was nice and friendly! They were very thoughtful and we decided to have breakfast once at the property and it was wonderful. Location was ideal for us because we had a car and it was close to funchal(10 mins) and 15 mins from the airport. Pool was amazing as it was heated and our daughters love it!

CanadaTo start off, we booked a studio plus a 3 bedroom sea view villa, and we were grateful to be upgraded to a 5 bedroom villa where our group could stay together. The very first night we noticed the AC did not work, and we were told that a part needed to be imported, message response via booking.com. Each room had an individual AC unit but they were unable to provide us with remotes to turn on the individual ACs in the room. Instead Christina assured us we would be provided fans after complaining for the 5 rooms, they provided us 2 fans. The bedding was dirty, pillows stained yellow and bloody. None of the multiple TVs worked, possibly because the owner or property manager did not want to provide cable? Wifi did not work except on the main level of the house which was a huge inconvenience especially since the TVs did not work. Then there was the gorgeous pool which could not be used, we requested at the reception and then via booking.com and Sergio responded stating someone would come by to take a look at the jets and clean it up, and no one came. We spoke to Christina on the second day as we noticed upon arrival multiple issues and she assured us the deficiencies would be corrected, but unfortunately, it was one issue after another. Little things like only providing 2 dish towels, no shower curtain in the pink room, the broken shower holder in the second floor master which Christina was made aware of, the broken window screens which we notified Christina about which deterred us from opening the windows at night due to mosquitoes, stench from the bathrooms...just an absolute DISASTER. We would never stay at this property again, and it's an absolute shame because it's a gorgeous home with million dollar views. I feel sorry for the owner of this home because the property managers are not doing this home any justice...we booked at Palheiro village and we were given a home at Casa de Velho.

AustriaFinding the reception office to check-in was awful and took us a few hours before we were actually settled in our unit. There were no instructions given and no signage. This is also a very steep and large property so walking around to look for such a place is not a possibility. First, to even enter the property you have to get through the unmanned front gate by pressing the intercom button. Eventually, the gate will be opened. There is an additional gate after the residences to get to the golf course where the check-in is. After calling the number on my reservation, I was told to go to the golf course club house to check-in. There was a very nice lady in the golf shop who checked us in but she said the regular person was on vacation. When we arrived at our place, it was not as described. It was described as "ocean view" and if you went outside the back door and around the corner to the side of the apartment in the yard, you could see the ocean. I felt this was deceiving and not what I paid for. In addition, the air condition did not work in the unit. This was unacceptable in the middle of 95 degree June summer weather. I called the only person who I had a number for, the nice lady in the golf shop, and she could not help me. I asked for a managers contact information. There was none. He was unreachable by phone. I walked up to the sales center to try and find someone to help me. They felt sorry for me (I was sweaty and panting from the hot uphill climb) and tried to help me find someone, although it was also not their job to handle the unit rentals. After waiting around the rec center/pool area for sometime, someone called me and said I could change units because they could not fix the AC. The other unit was directly under the pool and the view was obstructed by other units but it was good enough because the AC worked. There is no property management here. They are unreachable and they have no physical office.
The grounds itself was beautiful and well kept. The pool was very nice and clean. We loved the small cake that was left as a gift. The location was good for us being outside of the city, we had a car, but it was not far from anything either. No one at any point told us or did I read anywhere about how steep and crazy the streets are on Madeira. It is crazy steep, narrow, and scary. In the end, we were fine but it was just unexpected. I liked the breakfast option in the hotel although the price was more than was quoted to us. In the end, the management said it increases seasonally but would honor the price quoted. Both units we were in were clean and well furnished.

BelgiumSurprisingly poor phone coverage and hardly any Wifi around our apartment block, which we wouldn’t have expected upon booking. We also had a bad experience with the cot for our baby: we were given a broken cot with a mattress too small for the cot (and therefore dangerous for the baby, who could have slipped underneath), and it took a ridiculous amount of stress to get the cot changed (but were left with the inadequate mattress).

United Kingdomwizz air cancelled our original flight which meant the only alternative flight was on the Saturday instead of the following Tuesday. This meant we had to leave three days early .We were told that we could not be refunded for the three days we had paid for . The flight cancellation was a shock to us however the attitude of the staff was another shock Surely you company could have been a little more understanding . We not only lost the three days we had to book an alternative flight send our hire car back early and check out this cost us £1000 .We had hoped as you could rebook our accommodation we would not be charged for the three days . This was totally dismissed by the staff

The confirmed transfer from airport was not there at the arrival. 2. It was not any shuttle within or out of the location available. A car is definately a must. 3. Only one service in the appartment in the week. 4. No Service at the Pool (no Chance to change towels). 5. Dishwasher was defect, help was announced by the reception but nothing happened. 6. No check in with some Information around, just the key from the security guy. 6. For any help you need to go ca. 1 km up the hill to the Golf clubhouse.

Warm swimming pool. It really is a small village on a Hill. you need to go to the top for check in. (long end, do this by car!) Its a Nice place to stay but with distance to the heart of the city. If you don’t have your own car I would not stay there for a long time.
