Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalIt was visible they were running the place with very little staff which affects the service the guest received. Things like, no one at the bar and you had to call them and wait for a long time, sometimes over 20min. No one at the reception and there was a sign with a phone to call if you need anything. The breakfast only had 2 people and cause the tables to not be changed quickly or missing elements in the table such as cutlery, napkins, etc. I short, the place was great except for the lack of staff and I don’t think is expected from this place. The staff were exceptionally nice and friendly and eager to help even though they were aware of the limitations. I think is management issue.
The hotel is pretty and comfortable with all amenities. Nice decor and very well maintained

The place was beautiful. Nice decor and well maintained. A beautiful and super cozy and comfortable place to stay in Alentejo and explore the areas around.

United KingdomWhy do Booking.com advertise that the restaurant is open when it only opens on Friday's and Saturday's?
We have stayed here two or three times before and only go back because they accept dogs. The reception staff are, usually, either rude or just not available. We have had some BAD experiences here. On this occasion, however, there was a different receptionist, Telma. She was both courteous and efficient. Telma made our stay enjoyable and we would look forward to returning. I think that there has been a management shake up in this hotel. It needed it.

PortugalThe grounds, garden and pool area are in dire need of attention. Walls need painting, weeds need to be controlled and the pool needs a good clean (admittedly, we visitied outside of official poo season so I would expect that this will be resolved by the time it's officially available).
The historical building and location are great - we loved all the little chapels and frescoes dotted around the convent. Breakfast was good, free parking a bonus and the lounge area was nice, although the bar looked uninviting.

PortugalBeds too firm. Mattresses need replacing. Creaky floors, but they are old and made of wood, so maybe to be expected. Restaurant was only open 2 days a week, closed during our visit. There were plenty of options in the town, so we didn’t go hungry.
Outstanding old convent with old murals in the hallways. Beautiful gardens.

United StatesThere was little to no food service in the evening. Since the Convent is a bit remote from a lively city, we feel it would have been better to offer more than ham and cheese sandwiches at night when people returned to the hotel and were hungry. There were not any markets or many restaurants near by where you could grab a bite to eat.
Breakfast was absolutely over the top wonderful and exceptional with so many indulgent options. The room was comfortable, large and well equipped. We enjoyed walking around the convent discovering all the beautiful art and architecture.

United KingdomNo tea/coffee making facilities in the room (as is the case with nearly all the paradors we have stayed in on this trip); a restaurant is there but only seems to function for groups and not sure why as it is a beautiful set of rooms and could be marvellous? Grounds need maintenance and tidying particularly around the pool which hasn’t been swept for a while.
Fabulous location and so close to restaurants and the main town. Loves the history of the place.

PortugalAs usual for me, the beds were too hard and on the first night, the shower temperature was only warm. Eggs & bacon at breakfast was only warm (disappointing) despite good choice of cold cuts, local breads and fruits. Nespresso coffee machine saved the breakfast!!
Right next door to the Palace, free parking inside and outside the Pousada grounds, excellent WiFi speed (considering the thick walls) Very spacious rooms, separate wardrobe and armchairs corners, plenty of English speaking channels on the TV, central heating in the room worked well. Entire hotel was warm with fireplaces in the several lounges. Complimentary bottle of water daily. Easy walk into town centre and good choice of restaurants that were opened despite middle of winter. Close excess to the Armoury & Hunting museums (very impressive) and Castle.
