Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

OmanThe room is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was very good, with fresh products, some of them local. The location is fantastic, right by the river with a great view of Lisbon, and very close to the centre of town (restaurants, bars, museum, etc.) also, there is public transport to Lisbon.

NetherlandsAccommodation was antique Portugal indeed, even the smell was out of the past. The total sphere, the maintenance it was all Portugal before 1974. Hardly to find, splendid indeed. (Under better conditions it could be a pousada). Hilarious was the receptionist in his very poor English, like in the old days, but he was rather quick with his gsm in finding the translation of what he wanted to say, Beautiful is the enormous garden, therefore only one would stay a couple of days more. Hilarious as well is the "animal" population of the gardens: 3 goats. 1 donkey, 2 dogs and a handfull of chickens. But the total atmosphere did the beholder smile. The premises board the antique quai of the town. A new narrow rope of land is composed alongside the bay now, lodging e.g. an enormous café-terras almost in front of the hotel. However the night music is rather prominent but inside hardly to overhear, Breakfast is Old Portugal as well, people do their best, the ingrediens are very local. The bread is the best one can get. In short: If one likes to taste antique Portugal at a very moderate price, go there and sleep in an old fashioned squeezing bedcar.

SpainThey gave us a room next to the reception area with a door that connected to it and we felt a bit of lack of privacy (we could hear everything coming from it -thus we assumed it was the other way around-) . We requested a change but they said it was fully booked. Also the rooms face a kind of a patio at the entrance (instead of the garden, and they closed this one at 8 pm).
The gardens are beautiful, with a swimming pool that looks like a natural pond, and some animals (goats, very nice donkey) fenced at the end. Game room, and paddle and tennis court. The room included everything you made need (though no amenities, they give you gel and shampoo from a dispenser). The breakfast was very enjoyable, in a cozy area decorated perfectly and with all the needed options: the bread was delicious, eggs, freshly cut fruit, natural juice, cheese… also one day we requested to have it in the room and they were very generous with the portions.

HungaryThe staff don't speak English so the face-to-face communication was a bit difficult as a tourist. The breakfast is nice and plenteous, but it was exact same food every day - it'd be nice if it'd be more diverse (vegetables would be also great).
The room was spacious, the bed is huge and comfy. Nice, clean bathroom. The breakfast was plenteous. The land is beautiful, quiet, real treasure. Perfect for a calming and relaxing stay. The outdoor swimming pool was amazing. Car parking is possible on the street, in front of the building.

Great breakfast! location is perfect, especially when you see the garden surrounding it. Entrance is a little tricky to find you see 2 gates but those you dont want to follow, go up the ramp on the left side and go in through the door ;)

South AfricaThe negatives did not bother us, but the WIFI was not always strong, and there is not much presence of a host if you want to ask questions (though for us it was great to be left to our own devices, it feels very relaxed). We had heavy luggage and was a bit of a mission to get in across the cobbles with them. The gardens are less peaceful by day if the neighbouring school is out, or if there is a large noisy group staying there which we had for a time (obviously not the fault of the venue).
I loved the Quinta. I found it to be a surprise magical world behind the facade that faced the promenade. The rooms were traditional and full of character. The gardens and animals and pool were a delight. Very peaceful and restful to stay and chill at the quinta and wander the gardens. The room was super comfortable, and it was very easy access to explore the town by foot from there.
