Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOur stay was a highlight of our trip. Cristina and Nuno were the perfect hosts, and we felt like friends more than just guests. The breakfast was not only delicious but beautifully presented in a lovely warm dining room. We also enjoyed two lovely traditional dinners which were exceptional. We liked Nuno's port so much that we purchased a bottle to bring home with us. The location was beautiful and peaceful. Our accomodation was very comfortable and the parking was easy and convenient. This is a very special place. Thank you Cristina and Nuno!

Christina and Nuno were amazing hosts. The location and facilities were stunning. We loved having our stay in Covelinhas. It’s about a 15 min walk from the train station, which was convenient to visit wineries etc in Pinhão although the schedule is a bit limited so some planning is required. The dinners and breakfasts Christina prepared were outstanding and some of the best food we have had in Portugal. We can’t recommend this stay enough!

United StatesWe loved staying at Quinta da Travessa. Christina and Nuno were lovely, attentive, and informative hosts. We looked forward to our homemade dinners (black spaghetti with shrimp and then roasted pork loin and onions plus salads!) each evening with wine and oil from their own grapes and olives. Breakfasts with Christina’s homemade marmalades and quince guaranteed a head start to each day. Even though rain followed our trip to the Douro Valley, we had a wonderful time and will be sure to return!

CanadaCovelinhas is a little off the grid - a narrow windy road about 20 minutes from Regua. There is a coffee shop in the village, but not much else. If you don't have a car then you rely on the train, and the station is about a 10 -15 minute walk.
Nuno and Christina are wonderful hosts who take great pride in providing a wonderful guest experience. The included breakfast and the dinner we purchased were fantastic. The room and property are very comfortable.

United StatesIt is in an isolated location.
We had a really nice stay at Quinta da Travessa. It is a rustic old farmhouse located in a pretty village on the Douro river. There are no restaurants in the village and it is a long drive on a one lane road to the next town. Even though we had a car, we ate dinner each night at the Quinta. The owner, Christina, was a delightful host and we thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Portuguese dishes she prepared each evening. An old train stops at the village and we highly recommend taking it to Pinhao for wine tasting. In the evenings we enjoyed the pool and watching the sun set on the Douro river.

United KingdomIt was isolated from any shops so bring what you need, there is a train service which is a stunning ride but the times are limited so probably better with a car
Beautiful clean pool, we were made to feel like part of their family, the food was exceptional, all dietary requirements catered for and huge portions, the best meals we had during our entire holiday and so much was home grown themselves. If you want a quiet getaway you won’t regret this choice

Hong KongQuinta da Travessa was a fantastic bed & breakfast experience. Christina welcomed us to her home and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The house itself was beautiful with historic charm and Christina's cooking was delicious! Breakfast was included and had a delicious spread, including jams made by Christina herself. We opted to have dinner both nights of our stay and were treated to delicious dishes both nights - highly recommend it! If you do choose to add on the dinner, be sure to have cash on hand to pay at check-out.

CanadaLocation is a little remote so driving is a must but is not easy on this side of the river. Lots or stairs so pack lightly.
Beautiful country home that is authentic Portugal. The infinity swimming pool was perfect for the heat wave we were experiencing with views of the vineyards and river. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The hosts were wonderful, welcoming people who made all the food from scratch.

CanadaIt was like visiting relatives. Cristina was such an attentive hostess and made us feel at home in her place. She readily shared information about the area and was eager to make our stay enjoyable in whatever way she could. The (green) bedroom was ample size with a comfortable bed and air conditioning. Breakfast was delicious complete with homemade jams made from the fruit grown on the premises. Dinner cooked by Cristina is recommended - we had made reservations for one night but ended up eating there both nights :) Although we did not meet Nuno, we were able to sample his delicious homemade port wine. As others have mentioned, the road to the house is narrow and winding while breathtakingly beautiful but requires a confident driver. The area is spectacular and the host(s) personable and welcoming.

AustraliaThe Quinta is in a little village and overlooks The Douro and has quite nice views. However it was the warmth of the host Cristina, her family, and maid who really made our stay special. Apart from making us welcome on arrival, she provided delicious homemade meals, offered tips on where to visit, and other helpful advice. We took the option of having dinners there, and we had special dietary requirements not always easy to meet in Portugal. However Cristina was able to prepare delicious dinners to suit. She is an excellent cook. It is definitely worth taking the dinner option because it also saves an evening drive along a fairly narrow road. We stayed 4 nights and went off exploring each day, including catching the train to Pocinho one day from the local station in the village, Covelinhas.

There is the possibility to have dinner for 25 Euros per person, which is really worth taking. The dishes offered were magnificent.
