Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe never found the billiards room and bar area, but we didn't ask, so that's on us. You will need a car to go to dinner and to see the areas outside the small village.
Old world charm is everywhere in this beautifully restored mansion (and we are picky custom home builders!) The staff was so friendly and accommodating with a large and varied breakfast. Peaceful and quiet with a modern flair in the heated floor (wife's favorite part) bathroom and large shower area. We would definitely stay there again. Easy parking on the grounds and easy 15 minute drive to Lamego, which was one of our favorite cities to explore in our 3 week trip to Portugal! Good access to wine tours and a peaceful setting. Go, relax, unwind....

United KingdomThe signage outside was covered by ivy, so we missed the entrance and took some time to find the property again. There is a portable sign which could have been placed outside
Beautiful old manor house, lovely room with a modern bathroom. Great breakfast

United StatesThe only suggestion i have is to have a kettle in the room for a late night cup of tea or coffee. i might have been able to ask for one as they did provide ice when asked but I didn't try
the dining room was set up with everything you could imagine for breakfast . The selection was so vast we didnt need to eat until dinner.

SpainNo house keeping in the rooms. The poolside WC facilities were filthy. The breakfast was quite mediocre apart from the lovely croissant, bread, jam and melon. The orange juice was diluted and heavily sweetened (which is a real pity for Portugal that produces great oranges). The Italian coffee machine was playing up and wasn't particularly any good... and again some proper Portuguese coffee would have been miles better and most welcome!!
The staff were wonderful! Always obliging and very accommodating. The use of the main house for dining and support from the kitchen staff. The breakfast terrace was lovely .The pool and gardens are excellent.

South AfricaWould have been nice if there had been a kettle and a fridge.
We loved the beautiful restored house!! Staff welcomed us warmly with a glass of port!! Lalim was as bit off the beaten track but we enjoyed the rustic old town. We got a list of recommendation of what to do in the area and where to eat. We had supper in a lovely restaurant in the town next door. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of breads, cheeses, ham and fresh baked pastries. Lovely fruits. Good wi-fi. Super clean.

Lovely old house beautifully restored on a large property. It felt like we were staying in a small castle. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We read earlier reviews about the lack of restaurants near Lalim so we advance booked a dinner at the hotel. It was terrific, including the wine and the dessert. Staff were very friendly. Lalim is a bit off the beaten path and not on the Duoro, so this location may not be for everyone. We found the small town charming.

MaltaBe prepared for the restaurant on the property to be closed so either call before hand or make a reservation at a restaurant in Lamego. We failed to do both these things but eventually found a spot to eat there.
This is such a lovely Quinta located in a quiet and peaceful little town. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous. We visited mid September and it was extremely quiet, I believe we were the only guests. We stayed in a large room which had a sitting room and spacious bedroom. We really did feel spoilt with all the space we had in our room! The breakfast was so lovely and we had such a great selection of breads, chesses, hams and fresh baked pastries. We just wish that we had more time to enjoy the pool and possibly have come in the slightly warmer months to enjoy breakfast on the terrace over looking the valley!

RomaniaNo restaurants nearby, or in location. We went 8 km to a recommended restaurant, but the food was not tasteful (very fatty, plenty of vinegar and salt)
Nice location, old village, Old refurbished house, with a nice cherry (and not only) orchard - very tasteful cherries :). Breakfast should be improved (with vegetables at least).

CanadaThe Villa is located off of the beaten track which was fine for us but might present limitations for other travellers as there are very limited facilities nearby.
The breakfast was plentiful and the Quinta has a lovely covered terrace upstairs off of the main dining room where you can relax in the evening and/or have your breakfast. The host was also very helpful in finding us a place to eat for dinner as most of the restaurants were closed for the week.
