Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyHotel is a bit overpriced for what it offers (compared to other hotels). For the price paid, I would have expected a bit more (more culinary offerings in the room, rooms with even better appliances, etc.). The hotel is great, nothing to complain per se, just a bit overpriced. Also would have expected a bit more of an extraordinary breakfast (also here, it was good, but for the price paid, I would have expected something more special).
Very nice, small and lovely decorated botique hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good restaurant.

United StatesA perfect way to end our three weeks travel around Portugal! The location, on the beach/marina was absolutely perfect. We splurged for the best room, named quite appropriately number 360. The views were amazing from three different balaconies! From the moment we entered the hotel, we knew we'd be creating special memories! The breakfast was delicious, with many options (most included with the price). The manager was able to answer and questions immediately, and with such expertise. We appreciated the wait and bar staff who guided us with the best local food and shops! We are so grateful to have visited Villa Cascais Boutique. Thank you!

United StatesOur room lacked lighting, but it may be because it was newer and on the ground floor, so the windows were tinted.
We loved the staff and location so much. They were so helpful and understanding about everything and if felt like a very personable, bed and breakfast type of experience.

United KingdomThe restaurant was lacking something which is a shame as the perfect position in the town for both people staying and for people from outside to visit so the hotel could make a lot more money if they made it a focus. Staff, menu, atmosphere could all do with a shake up.
Lovely comfortable room, the whole hotel sparking clean and in good order

CanadaOur only complaint was that the shower leaked water from the door because the rubber seal was broken. Since our stay was on the weekend, maintenance was not available.
This hotel was beautiful...it was like staying in a grand estate home. Our room, although pricey, was gorgeous with very comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our included breakfast was very good. Location was exceptional...close to all the restaurants and shops and walking distance to a very nice beach where you can rent chairs and umbrella for the day. There was a music festival going on and we had the luxury of sitting in our room and listening to the live music. We stayed for 3 nights.

IrelandThe air conditioning was a bit noisy. We happened to reside during the annual summer festival and the music stage was just outside our windows. This was not a great problem for us, but it could have been for a family with small children.
The hotel has charm and character. It is in a great location at the centre of the town, close to the beaches and lots of good restaurants. It is maintained very clean, the rooms are spacious with high ceilings. Lots of storage space. The breakfast was small but there were always fresh bread and pastries, and fresh fruit.

United StatesOur room was very small. We were en route to Italy for a month and had four big suitcases. We had to stash the two we weren’t using behind the door to the room because there wasn’t room for them anywhere else. There was hardly room to move around the two other suitcases we were using for our stay in Cascais. We also used the luggage rack, which was made of heavy wood and difficult to move.
Villa Cascais is on the beach. The hotel building is charming. Our room was on the corner and looked out on the beach and the bay. Even though there were lots of people on the beach it was quiet in the room. The Villa is situated within walking distance of many good restaurants, and the old fort, which has been renovated into a complex of hotels, apartments, and artists’ studios. It’s also a convenient 10-minute walk to the train station that goes to Lisbon, which is about 40 minutes away. Breakfast was the usual fare but good. If you’re in the mood for a refreshing nonalcoholic drink, try the “mocktail” with cucumber, mint, and lime. Wonderful!

United KingdomWe loved everything.
Villa Cascais has been a fantastic experience for us. The location, room and restaurant all lovely. But the most exceptional are the staff who are professional, friendly and hard working. Nothing was too much for them. Some health problems meant my husband had to attend hospital and their humanity really shone through. We loved it and will be back. The location allows easy walking to beaches, restaurants and marina. The guys at the beach were also fantastic and everything is so much cheaper than France, Belgium and The Netherlands on recent visits. The Portuguese people are lovely. From hotel staff to taxi drivers to business owners, everyone smiles and is proud of their country. The breezes keep you cool day and night. Lovely sunsets.
