Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

What we were looking for, secluded, relaxing, private. Restaurant was ok, crew very friendly but far from 5* luxury resort services.

United KingdomThere wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
Gold star service. After waiting patiently for my delayed flight (for over two hours!), my driver, Osman, told me so many tales of Qatar, its rapid development and its colourful people. When we turned off the main road and he said “Welcome to the desert”, and that was the start of the most amazing 48 hours. I was greeted with warm smiles, interest and patience. Nothing I asked for was ever denied. I have medicine that needs to be stored in fridges and freezers and Al Barari just took care of it, no issues (and this is huge for those of you that know). The luxurious tent that was my villa (number 9) was beautiful and off to the left where it is very secluded. I could see sunset from my patio. The staff are amazing and never enter your enclosure without your permission. Sagar, Shan Ali, Kawtar (thanks for getting me on the electric sand bike! I felt like I was in Mad Max.), Anand, Rabiqul, Alamine, Bishram and more (thank you room service!) treated me so well, kept my villa sparkling and made me feel so welcome. I don’t know the name of the security guard who, at 2am, came to shut my gates (that I had stupidly left open) in the middle of the storm but I will always remember him with gratitude. I highly recommend going to the Inland Sea with them. I went after check out (which they so kindly allowed me to extend). I had a blast with Tahir (amazing driver and photographer) in the massive sand dunes. And he knows where the best sunset spot is. The crazy thing is when I was arranging the trip days before, I had asked whether there was anywhere to shower, afterward as I would have checked out. Shan Ali remembered, mentioned it to Mr Taha (the lovely general manager) and they allowed me to shower in one of the empty villas before my flight. And there’s more. As I wanted to see the Souq Waqif before flying, they took me there on the way to airport and I got to also see the city and do some shopping before they dropped me at the airport.

JerseyBe aware that this place is in the middle of the desert and you can only get to it with a 4x4 vehicle with sand tyres fitted (not road tyres). The way to get there is to get a taxi to the end of the tarmac road and arrange for the Outpost to pick you up in one of their 4x4s. This isn't made clear and must be spelt out to future guests. Unaware, we (and other guests on the same day) simply got in an Uber taxi which got stuck in the sand.
The Outpost is so relaxing. Having one's own villa and secluded garden with pool is divine. Because the Outpost is in the desert, you are unlikely to be going out to eat. Thankfully, the Outpost food is good. We visited during Ramadan so ate breakfast and lunch in our room. We would do this out of Ramadan because the breakfast was so generous it lasted for lunch as well. Try the butter chicken for dinner - it's delicious. The staff were all very helpful and wanted us to enjoy our stay. The Housekeeping team of Alamin and Bayzid did a great job of looking after the villa and keeping us stocked-up - thanks guys.

IndiaStill thinking about......
This was our second visit to The Outpost Al Barari. The first visit was the main trigger to decide upon the second visit. The plan was to spent the New Year's eve in the Desert and that paid-off well. The 12 km drive through the sandy desert from Mesaieed to The Outpost was thrilling. The memorable experience starts from the front office, through our stay in the Tent, the SPA Centre, the Restaurant, the surroundings, etc. You will never let unattended by the wonderful team members at The Outpost. At the Restaurant, we were well taken cared by Mr Rajen, one you can rarely find, who never distanced himself from his colleagues. A special applause to him. The couple SPA session was awesome. There were opportunities to take the Dune Bashing, visit to The Inland Sea, Sand Boarding, Camel Riding, Buggy Riding, Mountain Bike Riding, Swimming.....You will never stop visiting The Outpost.

QatarThe restaurant was quite busy when we arrived in the evening and the staff seemed flustered and disorganised. Maybe they were unexpectedly short staffed or there were new team members. In any case, we were OK waiting a little longer for service than usual because it was a very pleasant spot to sit, enjoying the lovely sunset, the appearance of the first stars and so on, but we were a bit surprised that the arrival of several groups of guests at around the same time seemed to cause so much confusion. I imagine this place is pretty full most weekends.
The food was tasty, especially the delicious grilled fish and tabouleh in the evening, breakfast portions were generous and the breakfast waiter was attentive to details of our order. The setting for the evening meal was lovely. The colonial theme in the villas worked well. All in all, it was the escape from the city we had hoped for.

United StatesExceptional location, beautiful design of the tents, excellent service on all levels. Unique settings amongst desert dunes, provides a lot of privacy and esthetics. The Balinese tents including the furniture are at the highest level of luxury. Outdoor pool and lounge areas & landscaping and fencing makes for an overall unforgettable experience. Highly recommend the by foot, camel and SUV explorations into the desert environment.
