“Hostal Jasmin is located in Alegría, a short distance beyond the Alegría Park that contains a number of stalls and shops, and is pleasantly lively in the evenings. Some of the advertising mentions 'Berlin' which, in fact, is some 7 km away. The accommodation is pleasant, if somewhat overpriced. The entrance to the property contains a gated car-parking area, with rooms set a floor above this space. Rooms are comfortable though somewhat cramped: for example, the bedside table is located at the foot of the bed as there is simply no space behind it; the room contains a small desk and chair that would be uncomfortable to use by an adult of average size, and one's knees graze the wall while sitting on the toilet. Very good wifi.
Options for more substantial meals are limited to a couple of restaurants in town: Berlin may be a larger town with better options. The surrounding area is attractive. Café El Nucleo in Santiago de Maria, a larger but less touristy settlement that functions as a gateway to Allegría/Berlin, is highly recommended. Laguna Alegría is a pleasant walk from town, and the walking path above and partially around the lake is well worthwhile.”
