“The hostel is located right on the calmer parts of the ocean on a lagoon. It is an amazing property with wonderful people, great host Arif and his lovely family who runs this place. The two surfing spots are around 20 minutes drive each, which make this location quite quiet, and the hostel has very good social vibes, and overall a place where you will come for 2 days and end up staying 2 weeks.”
“Hotel is ok, the building is unfinished though this doesn't affect the rooms. The whole place feels a bit abandoned. The staff is nice. The location is alright, but far from everything. On the property there is a cafe, where you can get nasi and mie goreng. The bay is pretty, but so many seaweeds and rocks.”
“Great place to hangout with huge Windows to look at Palm trees and the sea from a great bed, in the luxury of a good airco.
The room is big and as mentioned light. The bed was one of the best I slept on for a while. Food even delivered to the room if wanted, but also there is a big dining hall. The dining hall catches a little wind which is nice when it's hot.
The staff is great and didn't hesitate to help me out with a ride to town. I want to thank them for their welcoming and friendly attitude. A place to come back to.”
“Staff super helpful. Great accommodation and help with getting food. 5 mins drive from airport. We arrived at 12.00 and asked the owner what we could do in the afternoon. Within an hour we were trekking to remote farm, eating freshly caught fish, visiting traditional village houses and swimming under a waterfall. The guide was excellent.”
“This hostel is right next to the airport on nias, and around 20 minutes drive to gunungsitoli, so it's a good place to stay for the night if you are just arriving or departing from the island. The rooms are capsule type beds which are pretty comfortable. The staff is very nice, and helpful, although they couldn't speak a lot of English, but it was enough. Overall, a nice place for a stopover before your next journey.
They also have a turtle conservation program which I really liked about the place.”
“When I arrived at Salty Dogs I immediately felt that I wanted to stay here longer. Aryf and his family are really great people who do everything they can to create a good vibe. Nias is a great place for surfing for beginners and advanced surfers. I ended up staying 2.5 weeks and will definitely come back. Thanks Aryf!”
