“I loved staying at Fikir and Ray. The lodge itself is beautiful, and my room had lovely views towards the country side. It is located about 15 mins by foot from Lalibela's central area. The hotel arranged my transport from/to the airport, and my guide (Girma) met me there and was extremely helpful throughout my stay both with activities in Lalibela and a person problem I had. The owner, Abebe, also helped me with all the above and is extremely kind. Breakfast was at a nearby sister hotel, which also provided wifi as there are some problems with local connections. The staff at both hotels were incredibly kind and I would, and already have, recommended this to friends.”
“The most important thing were for me the security. I felt so safe . 24hours security service. The room is super clean. Everything works. Electricity never been a problem. They have a backup Generator system, friendly staff. Tasty breakfast which is local and international food. The hotel is located to the famous rock hewn church of Lalibela and to the town centre. I was appointed a guide and he speaks very good English and has a good knowledge of the Church.”
“The care taken by the staff to ensure the success of my stay. The accommodation of my daily itinerary in the preparation of breakfast and evening needs.”
“The helpfulness of the staff, and their assistance to view the church sites and witness religious ceremonies.
The food was simple but tasty.
Being invited to a staff member's home.”
“The hotel is located in the center of Lalibela. It was clean , spacious and we had a wonderful stay!
Birhan made all the arrangements perfectly about our transfer from the airport , the visit to the unique churches and our meals.
The hospitality we had was memorable!
The owner so gentle and hospitable.
Definetely we recommend it for anyone that wants to visit Lalibela!”
“Yohannes, the owner of Zan Seyoum Hotel, is a man with a heart of gold. I was welcomed with great love and kindness. I haven’t experienced such an abundant amount of care and attention anywhere before and I do travel a lot.
Seeing all of Lalibela, every UNESCO Workd Heritage church was made easy and seamless as Yohannes had provided me with a personal guide, Abeje. The entire experience was very agreeable. Everything was clearly arranged to be a well-oiled machine for tending to every last need of which any tourist could conceive.
It’s a shame the country (and tourism industry) has gone through not only the pandemic, but also a debilitating war. A treaty has been signed however and I travelled to Ethiopia not long afterward as it has always interested me and I finally had the chance to go. Not once did I ever feel unsafe.
Abeje, my personal guide, with whom I spent most of my time, especially sought to my every need while touring Lalibela and beyond. I trust him and Yohannes without a single doubt. They both are family men who love to serve and take their faith in God seriously. I opened up to them my last night there about the recent loss of my wife and it was as though I were talking with loved ones I had known for years.
Abeje was very insightful as well. I planned on going on another tour which goes through Abuna Yemata. He was well aware of the dangerous zones to avoid on the roads, and helped get me set up to continue my journey as safely as possible. I really would have been completely lost without him with me the entire time. I don’t usually use tour guides as I’ve done a lot of solo travel before. In this case Abeje was indispensable; I very much needed his knowledge and direction. Apart from keeping me well taken care of, Abeje was very well-versed in all things of which Lalibela is known across the world. He really gave the entire tour a deep level of historical and cultural insight.”
“It was my sencond time at the Lodge. The owner is very helpfull and taking care of our satisfaction. The staff of the restaurant is professional and very friendly. The lodges have a very nice view. There is also a view point open bar, very lovely for a sunset with a beer. The qulaity of the matress were perfect. The safety is also guarentee.”
