“Wonderful stay, friendly hosts, but not imposing.
Lovely breakfast basket and a few bits in the fridge for the morning. Very comfortable and cosy rooms, and a lovely, quiet, and secure location. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again.”
“We didn’t meet our host but accessed the property opposite the castle as arranged, climbing the winding stair to emerge into a light filled charming tower chamber over looking river and castle. The view was fantastic and everything was there that we might need including fresh milk in the fridge. Bed comfortable, bathroom great with automatic light after dark. There was a safety gate to prevent tumbles down the stairs especially from the single bed a step up from the main floor. Decent cooking facilities, iron, board and hair dryer. You could see the river from bedside window. Wi-Fi was good though we oldie’s struggled with the TV. Lot of automation so not clear how the heating worked but small heatwave so no problem. Disabled parking outside”
“Everything, we were just going to drop our bags and go out for a look see if Athlone and dinner out. Instead we went and bought some food and came back. It was a home away from home”
“The location was wonderful - on the edge of the lake, really peaceful with lovely views. Local pub a short walk away with great Guinness and friendly locals - they do pizzas but we didn't partake. The location was ideal for us as we were branching out in different directions - the well connected N6 was really close which made travelling around a breeze. Sitting on the jetty watching the lake and wildlife was a lovely break after a days driving.
Athlone itself was nice enough to visit, some shopping for the girls, a walk about for me finished off with a visit to Sean's Bar, the oldest pub in Ireland...possibly the world (on that site since 900AD!). Athlone was a few miles away so a drive.
Our host was lovely, we didn't need much so were left to our own devices but had some lovely chats when we bumped into each other. Secure parking for one car (although the place is so quiet security wasn't a concern). Cooking facilities were good, supermarket a couple of miles away.
All in all we had a lovely time and would happily stay there again.”
“Very cosy and comfortable. Great facilities on offer, ideal for short and longer stays. Close to Mullingar but get the quiet night of the countryside. Would love to visit again.”
