Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MontenegroFirst of all, the owner is a scammer and you have to beware of him! According to the rules of Booking, we pay the daily city tax to the host for each person individually. He did not register us as guests with justification that he had never done this in the past 13 years for people from Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. We had to shorten our stay by 2 days and we notified the host in time so he could remove the reservation and someone else could potentially reserve. In return, we asked for our money back for that two days. He refused that and said that he could not do that. When we return to our home, he modify reservation same day and released apartment for potential reservation. This means he puts in his pocket almost 120€ in our case. From the photos, we get the impression that the apartment is extremely clean and tidy, but the reality is completely different. There is so much dust on the furniture, shelves and bed that I think it has not been thoroughly cleaned since the renovation. There are quite old stains on the pillows and duvet and also you may smell an unpleasant smell. Disgusting! The apartment is on the 4th floor in old building and the elevator is not working. Even if they repair it in the near future, it is still unreachable for the people with disabilities and parents with children in strollers because there is two levels of stairs before elevator entrance. First part has 6-7 stairs, and second has 10 stairs. There is no light above the entrance door to the apartment so you are almost in total darkness. The intercom also does not work so you must always bring the key from main entrance of the building with you. WiFi network is terrible. Network password is too long and complicated. I measured the network speed in best part of the day and it was 4.83 Mb/s download and 5.99 Mb/s upload. Otherwise, the speed is mostly 0.35 Mb/s download and 1.87 Mb/s upload so it is not possible to use it for mostly Internet surfing.
The location of the apartment is good, near the public city transport, bakeries, shoping malls, hospitals, schools and city attractions. Furniture and equipment is from quality vendors and relatively new. All apartment looks like recently renovated. It does not have own parking but you can park on the marked parking spaces in the streets. Parking costs about 0.5€ per hour and it can be paid via smartphone application so you do not need to have Serbian mobile phone number, just phone snd your visa/master card.

RussiaTerrible communication with customers: rude, aggressive, "leave if you don't like it." If you think I'm exaggerating, you can look at the responses to the reviews with a low rating - you will get same if there are problems. This cannot be attributed to translation errors (the staff does not speak English, communication is written through a translator), because aggression and mockeries are obvious. After the first interaction, we just didn't ask about anything else, we didn't want to spoil our mood. I think this is the purpose of such answers. There is an elevator in the building, but it is not accessible. Perhaps they don't want to pay for it, although the story of why it is unavailable is probably always different. It's pretty hard to get up with suitcases. If somewhere in the reviews there is an answer "The elevator has already been repaired" - I do not recommend believing, I believed and dragged heavy suitcases.
Comfortable, clean and nice apartment, good location in the city center. The cleaning lady comes every 6-8 days, she is very friendly and pleasant in communication. They made White paper for us.

RussiaThe worst experience I have ever had. There were dirty when we arrived and first thing that we did - we took the vacuum cleaner and cleaned. There was some unpleasant smell. Also curtains smelled of smoke. From the morning somebody drilled behind the wall all day the whole week, it was very noisy and unreal to stay in the apartment. You can not use the elevator. It requires a key which the host doesn't give to you. The wash machine didn’t work (we didn't understand how to turn it on at the beginning), we texted about it to the host, but he answered like: “You’ve just arrived and already use a wash machine! Go to laundry, it’s near. And wash machine works”. It was rude. Nobody said before that we have to pay for a dog. We took cash only for an apartment (price in our booking), so we had to go to ATM for additional sum. It isn’t convenient when you don’t have time for that. And opposite the window is the window of another house which seems very creepy.

United KingdomOn the face of it the apartment is stylishly refurbished but suffers from several cleanliness and a couple of major practical issues. The microwave as well as several plates and pots still had pieces of food stuck to them, the toilet brush is so badly rusted it fell apart upon first use and requires constantly pushing back together, the brush itself is also filthy. On a toilet note the provided paper is ridiculously thin which considering the price paid is poor. The kitchen drawers could use a good clean with several left over crumbs in a couple of drawers, not to mention the cutlery also required washing. I had to pull out a ridiculous amount of dust from the hoover in order to get any useful suction so I have no idea when this was last emptied. There is a pillar that overlaps the sink which means you cannot stand directly in front of the sink when washing dishes (yes there is a dishwasher but my experience with dish washers was rarely a success with many things requiring re washing, which was most definitely the case in this apartment. So in order to use the sink you have to twist your body 45 degrees just to wash dishes, on another impracticable note despite the apartment being modern the WiFi certainly is not, with a 6gb's a second connection speed this meant my gf struggled to continue to work during our stay. According to other reviews it seems we are not the only complainaints, with my phone and laptop losing connection frequently during our stay. Unable to reset the router as it is located in the other apartment according to another review I read. The mattress is also far too soft which meant a few uncomfortable nights sleep, on top of that is the selfish neighbours above who will hoover at sometimes 10/11pm at night.
Ivana the caretaker was lovely to deal with, the location of the property is great but again due to all the things I have listed above I wouldn't recommend this apartment to people nor would I stay here again, which is sad because like I stated it is a beautiful and stylishly designed apartment in a great location but impractical in some of the most basic ways with ceanliness issues.
