I always stay at the King Sol when I go to Honiara. I keep my expectations realistic, especially after the pandemic, however it’s clear from my last few trips that the owners are not keeping up with maintenance. The lift has been broken for 12 months, our room had a rat problem, they really need to pick up their game.

Room could be renovated a bit, place of the hotel in not on the beach/seaside, but that is not the problem since it is 5 min walk... Beaches can be reached by taxi or by local crowded buses. Wifi is available only at the hotel lobby.

Hotel is one of very few hotels at Honiara. So, it is not luxury hotel, but considering that there is no many options to stay in Honiara, that hotel is very good. It is maybe a bit more expensive concerning the room shape, but as said - not many places to choose... It is safe, cable car ride from reception to the hotel levels is very unique, and hotel have options for meals... Again, Honiara is not developed in touristic terms, so not many restaurants around to choose, better to eat in the hotel... Hotel to stay for few nights.

Not much. The King Sol met my needs. We were allocated rooms over the pool on day two by request which were great. Also much better for our group of three to be together.

Breakfasts excellent (Thanks Lorna) Dinners also excellent in hotel's restaurant Room serviced daily. Very clean (Thanks Beauty) Wifi in foyer. Fridge, a/c, and fan all worked. I like the friendly staff and the character of King Sols. The cable car is a classic.

The pool looked stagnant and unswimmable. The lift to the rooms didn't work which made dragging bags up and down the hill hard.

No WiFi in rooms. Very worn rooms. Towels had holes and were worn. WiFi was only available in reception area, was weak, and rarely had connection (but reception at other local hotels was fine).

Good AC and cold refrigerator. Room was large.

Leaking taps, cold showers, confusion on allocating rooms to guests, I had a guest opening my room and I was really angry about that, pizza took 2 hours to be cooked and was so tasteless, Friday night parties ended at 2am which was not considerate of the guests, I had 2 days of my room not cleaned as key was misplaced which was pathetic

Such lovely people. Nice room .lovely pool. Delicious pizza. Hula dancing on Fridays. Fascinating market. The funicular was fun. Highly recommend.

pool was closed for part of weekend. someone was double booked in my room and came in at 1.30 am! didn’t have water when I first arrived. first room. key didn’t work. tv didn’t work and didn’t get fixed as promised.

This hotel was terrible, we’re supposed to stay for 8 days but left first thing the morning after we checked in.

The bathroom was horrible. The hand basin taps & the shower constantly dripped all night...it was torture to listen to. The bed was uncomfortable. The room was noisy. I was booked for another night but chose to relocate to another hotel. The cable car was mainly out of service.
