Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayThe breakfast was OK, but not above average. The staff had trouble keeping up with the amount of people: They ran out of napkins, plates and bread, though they quickly replenished on requests from several guests. The bread was the ordinary Swedish kind - no taste, feels swampy (in contrast, quality Norwegian hotels generally serve a variety of tasty fresh bread of many different kinds, with much more varied toppings, spreads, warm food, etc.). Some of the replenished bread was frozen. Bacon was much too salt, but plentiful. Scrambled eggs was low quality (looked white, no real taste, strange texture). The small biscuits for coffee was a nice touch. Breakfast staff was very courteous and kind. I have stayed at other very good Swedish hotels, and their breakfast is never really good, so my complaint here should not detract from the value of the hotel, which I found very, very good.
Splendid rooms, splendid location, very good service, polite and welcoming staff. Umeå is a beautiful city. The hotel was so good that I will stay there again if possible.

IcelandReally nothing to complain
During my short-trip to Sweden, this was the best hotel. The staff at the reception was very friendly, the service during dinner time and at the breakfast was also very good. The food was also the best that we had in all hotels, everything at the breakfast was great and the bread was fantastic. The room was really nice, with both the sofa and the bed being very comfortable, it's just overall a beautiful building with a really nice ambiente. All in all just a very good hotel and the next time I stay in Umeå, I will definitely book there again.

United KingdomLittle or no available parking and despite your confirmation that it was free we had to pay each day with no certainty that we could park. Also the room was only cleaned once in 4 days. The coffee was not replenished. I had to demand that it was cleaned and the coffee replenished and the requested couple of extra pillows were never provided. Why in a 4 star hotel was the restaurant and bar not open on Sunday night?
The location was very good. The room was very comfortable and more than adequate for our stay.

Australia1. Dog hair on carpet in room on Day 1, it appeared that the room had not been cleaned from the previous occupants. I understand dogs are allowed to stay in this hotel, but maybe dedicate the lower ground floor to these owners, and not put regular guests here. Dog hair was rectified the next day. 2. Bathroom flooded every time the shower was used. For a "green" hotel we used 8 towels a day, to mop up the water, so as not to slip over in bathroom. Reception was notified to clean drain in shower out or maybe a new seal on the bottom of the shower door would do the trick. 3. Requested safe door be opened in our room, so as to use it during our 5 day stay. This was still locked and closed (from the previous occupants code) on Day 5. 4. Breakfast tables were not wiped down, only dirty dishes removed. 5. Parking in the carpark at the front of the hotel, if you are not in carpark by 3.00pm, there are no spare spots. Nearby parking station is cheaper and undercover. If you do get a car spot at the hotel, don't move your car after you have paid for 24hours as there is no guarantee there will be a spot when you return. This did not happen to us.
Location of hotel, close to centre of town, shops and restaurants. Bus station nearby. River close by too.

NorwayWe got upgraded to a supposedly better room, but it was a downgrade. Small small window that couldn’t be opened. The temperature and air quality was super poor because of that, so the first night we almost had no sleep. The breakfast was subpar compared to other equally priced hotels. We also had a room right next to an elevator, so every time someone used it, we would wake up. After complaining to the receptionists a few times they stopped taking our calls. Supposing it was busy, we went down to check only to find the receptionist just standing there.
The spa area was nice, although it needed to be turned on 30 minutes before it could be used. Adequate location.

United KingdomThe Hotel Mimer was fabulous! Beautifully located, wonderfully stylish and incredibly comfortable, this is a fabulous hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, and everything was done with minimum fuss and hassle. The architecture of the hotel itself is very impressive, and the conversion has been sympathetic to the fabric of the original building. The breakfast was one of the best I've had at a hotel!

United Kingdominitial room given was dirty with offensive waste in toiletry bin and hair on towels, no shampoo/conditioner in shower. no tea/coffee facilities in room which was surprising for the price as even basic hotels common provide this - when enquiring at reception lady was quite abrupt, moved us to another but smaller room (at least was clean) and then gave mugs and kettle but no actually tea/coffee to use.

SwedenNo coffee in the room - nor in the reception. No temperature control in the room - it was quite cold. The cleaner did not replace the dirty glass. Also the neighbor slammed the door at 6:04, 6:21 and 6:23. (all doors very loud).
The comfortable bed and the breakfast, that was good but not overwhelming.

SwedenBreakfast, very ordinary - eg bred and cheese and ham all comes from a package. Would appreciate fresh baked bred and locally produced eg ham. The room was dusty. Our safe deposite didn't work and despite several reminders to the staff they never managed to fix it and we were there for three nights. Even if we were compensated for one night we would have appreicated that some had taken action.
Nice decorated rooms and good location

ChileOverall cleanliness could be much more Improved , the public areas was a little dusty there seems to be missing an eye for detail for eg the lifts had dusty around the cracks, my room when I checked in was missing a light bulb, each morning the room was made was put together in a different way (seems there’s no particular standard). Having worked in hotels before I know about security being important I asked the receptionist for a new key but she never asked for any private information to confirm my identity (I could’ve been anyone asking for a new key). Also, notice during breakfast on 2 different morning staff not from the restaurant department helped themselves to breakfast at the same time as guests (that’s a big no) at least in the hotels I’ve worked in the past. Overall I think the hotel has a lot of potential just needs fine tuning when it comes to standards & procedures.
