Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenI think the breakfast times need to be pro-longed. The only option was between 7-9am. Great location, pleasantly surprised with the bubble bath in the bathroom. Nice historical interior.

GermanyThere were spider webs all over the room which was a little bit scary. After our complaint we got an extra cleaning, which was fair. Despite summer it was bad weather (not a matter of the hotel!) but we could not heat the room, which is a matter of the hotel! As we were in an extra house, we had to walk to the breakfast room (5 minutes, not an issue) and the reception (20 minutes, which is an issue if you need support)
Breakfast Buffet was amazing. Full points for that, even lactose free and glutine free stuff available. The hotel is a good start for hiking and water sports. Unfortuantely, the weather wasn't that good, so we could not do too much and after 2 days all the sight seeings nearby have been done. We had a Louis XIV room in a separate villa outside of the hotel, which was overwhelming but partly also scary when we were the only guests. We had a feeling of "Shining" sometimes in the night.

SwedenFor such a romantic suite, the bed could be a bit more comfortable for couples. So unromantic with two separate mattresses and duvets - but this is unfortunately very common at Swedish hotels.
We had a lovely stay here in a beautiful, historical and comfortable suite with a very luxurious bathtub. Great location. Amazing breakfast. Our third time staying here and we would love to return again in the future.

United KingdomIt was a little noisy and a bit uncomfortable due to the temperature in the room. The spa unfortunately was only open for 2 hours in the eve and not fully open due to rennovation works which meant it was quite busy in the sections that were available. However the hotel was overall very welcoming and we enjoyed our stay.
location was great, there were some lovely restaurants nearby and the scenery was beautiful. Especially enjoyed watching the sunset over the lake.

United StatesThe view from our room in the annex overlooked dumpsters!
The setting for the breakfast was beautiful, as was the rest of the hotel. We chose to stay in the annex which was decorated in Scandinavian textiles. Being right next to the lake and the ancient town of Vadstena, the backdrop was very appealing.

United KingdomThe location could hardly be more picturesque and it was wonderful to spend some time in such a beautiful and welcoming place. The quality of the meals in the hotel was exceptional! We'll certainly miss the liquorice-infused bread, but all the food was excellent. The Spa is also well worth a visit.

New ZealandWe weren't aware of the distance between checking in (reception) and the cloister where we stayed. Heaters were not on in the evening and so our room was a little cold. When we tried to ring reception at 8pm there was no reply

Sweden- I might have had too high expectations, but it is not very special really (esp when on has stayed in other similar standards/reputation hotels) - One checks-in in one building and had to walk 7-10 mins to go to the assigned building and room. - The breakfast area (Slottsflygeln) we had was OK but I learned later that breakfast is also served in the "nunnery" part of the hotel and I would have preferred to be there even if it means walking several minutes since that was what I wanted - a nunnery-experience.

SwedenRoom was a bit worn for the money we paid. Bathroom shower leaked all over the floor. A little confusing finding the room/parking as the hotel consists of many separate buildings and annexes.
