Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThere is a need for improvement in the quality of the mattresses and pillows as they are hard and quite uncomfortable, with pillows being lumpy. Unfortunately, the opportunity to experience the tavern was missed as it was closed on Saturday due to it being a national holiday, and it is also closed on Sundays; but we found it closed also on Friday evening! Despite this, promotions for typical Slovenian dinners offered in the tavern with a 10% discount for guests were displayed in the breakfast room and reception. The inconsistency in the tavern's advertisement left a sense of disappointment. While the reception staff was available and attentive in the mornings, their absence during the rest of the day and evenings was noted. I'd suggest that the management consider having staff available throughout the day for better service.
The guesthouse, situated within a historic Slovenian inn, boasts a serene and exquisite ambiance. Its location is highly convenient, being just a 10-minute walk from the city center and a mere 5-minute stroll from both the bus and train stations, making it an ideal choice. Moreover, the tranquility and peacefulness of the surroundings add to its charm. The accommodation offers an excellent selection of English-speaking channels on the TV, catering to a variety of preferences, including those seeking "solace". The cleanliness is impeccable, although there was a slight oversight by the cleaning staff on the final day in setting up the bed for us. The breakfast provided is outstanding, featuring a rich and plentiful spread with delectable homemade desserts. The staff members are exceptionally friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall experience.

CroatiaThe rooms are quite expensive. They should put an electric kettle and cup for coffee with 3 in 1 coffee in the room, and also a small toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom.
The service is excellent, they are kind and very welcoming.

AustraliaThe rooms were basic as expected but value for money.
The location was close to the old city centre as well as easy access to train/rail/bus. Superb staff! Superb! It makes such a difference. The rooms are clean and though simple (value for money), the breakfast, location and staff make it so pleasurable. They also had a loft window that could be fully opened…fresh air…wonderful! Also there is an open air area tables and chairs within the facility to relax. I am now in a more expensive hotel (closed windows and breakfast not as good) in another country and thinking that even though the rooms are luxurious, I would much rather be staying there for freshness of the rooms.

New ZealandNot so much the hotel‘s fault, but some of the other guests could be a bit noisy in the corridor as they entered and exited their rooms, which could be heard quite loudly in the room. In fairness, the floorboards out there make a lot of noise, so it was difficult to be very quiet. A mini-fridge would have been nice to have in the room and maybe some conditioner too.
Lovely little room, great for our short stay. Simple buffet-style breakfast included, which was nice, and a discount for dinner at the restaurant. Very close to the train station, so we had no issues walking there with our luggage. The hotel staff were happy to let us leave our luggage with them at reception in the morning until we were able to check in, which was a great help.
