Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Lovely place with the perfect host Celine. Very nice and clean room with comfy bed. The garden is an oasis to lounge in, with many different types of birds. Perfect base to explore the Seloum delta. The food is great, specifically dinner! Easy to arrange excursions from the hotel.

United KingdomCeline and Giles were charming hosts, genuinely engaged in the local community with a deep respect for the people they work with and the environment. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and the trips we did. The food was delicious, and the fact we all sat around the same table for breakfast and dinner made it very sociable. The garden is beautiful, with no need to go very far for birdwatching. We have such fond memories of our stay

Portugal- Not exactly negative but for the guided tours bare in mind it is good to have at least some basic knowledge of French.
- Super friendly and safe environment; - Special thanks to Céline that helped us out in English with our (many) questions and helped us out arranging a transfer to the airport; - Delicious homemade food by Céline, make sure you taste her amazing dishes; - A very nice range of activities organized at Keur Niaye, hands up to Dudu that guided us on two different occasions.

GermanyFor those travelling on a tighter budget, the activities, though completely worth it in our opinion, may be a little on the expensive side. I'll admit though that I didn't have any point of comparison, so this might be the standard going rate across-the-board in Sine Saloum. I'll also note again those good causes which the traveller will be supporting and Keur Niaye. The shower pressure and electric heating is dependent on the solar energy, which could be a little temperamental at times (though it was mostly fine)
Céline's place is excellent - located in the fairly large village of Toubakouta, close to the border with the Gambia, and sitting right on the Sine Saloum Delta. The rooms are large and comfortable, equipped with Mosquito nets, showers and plenty of storage space. The atmosphere around the lodge is relaxed and comfortable, with communal spaces for sitting and chatting, playing games (also provided) and taking meals together. The food is also very good, with fresh bread from the local bakery, homemade jams, juices and yogurt and even some Korean options. There are numerous activities to take part in, easy to choose from from a 'a la carte' book (in Both English and French). This includes things like boats or kayaks in the Delta, guided tours of the region on foot or bike, as well as more surprising options like Tai Chi, African Drumming or lessons on cookery. We took part in a day-long trip with local guide Doudou (who is also excellent) on the water to some of the island and villages in the Delta, and it was fantastic as we got to lunch together with some local people in the Senegalese style. If you're not sure what you would like to do, there's Céline can also help guide you and many of the choices can be arranged at fairly short notice, meaning it's perfectly possible to show up with no plans and just take it from there. Finally, its also worth mentioning that Céline and her husband Gilles who run the Keur Niaye, are also well-known and clearly well respected within the community. They, and their staff, support a number of good causes across Toubakouta and the surrounding area.

United StatesCeline and Gilles were delightful hosts, always attentive to us. Everyone at Keur Niaye was gracious and highly capable. We especially appreciated Doudou, their guide who took us on several outings. The garden is beautiful, and our room was extremely comfortable. Celine and Gilles were excellent company and fascinating people. Their support for the community in the town of Toubakouta is admirable and added greatly to our experience there.

The hosts were welcoming, charming, and genuinely wanted to tend to our needs. The courtyard is beautifully maintained and lovely to look at. Gilles puts birdseed out in the morning so we can enjoy the beautiful birds of the area. Breakfast was phenomenal with Celine providing homemade jams and local honey as special treats

What a wonderful place, the hosts Gilles and Céline are so welcoming and can get so many trips organized, with professional guidance, after so many years living there. Only 4 rooms, so small scale personalized operation, and excellent home cooking! Good interaction with locals in the village.

Keur Naiye was very charming, Celine, Gilles and Dou Dou could not have been more helpful and welcoming; For reasonable prices, excursions can be arranged. Our highlights- Gilles and Dou Dou took us out on the Salom for a wonderful afternoon and evening, we walked, swam, visited shell Island and the village of Sipo and watched the birds come to rest as the sun was setting. Celine organised transport for us to visit Fathala reserve and kayakking on our last morning. Celine is a very good cook and we particularly enjoyed sharing our evening meal together with our hosts. Breakfast was also delicious, pancakes with home made Jams and local honey. Our rooms were very comfortable with air conditioning and mosquito nets. We would highly recommend a stay at Keur Naiye

Great guesthouse/B&B in Toubacouta in a very peaceful and quiet village. Rooms are totally comfortable and nicely designed, and the meal that I ate here was excellent. I only stayed two nights, but would have been happy to stay on an another to take a tour through the mangroves. The owners Celine and Gilles were very friendly and it was great to speak with them over dinner. They also offered some recommendations for future stops on my trip, since I had done almost no planning before coming to Senegal.

GermanyWe were a little surprised that the trip prices didn't include the meals we enjoyed during the trips.
Céline and Gilles are very warm and welcoming. Every evening, we all had (an extremely delicious) 3-course dinner together and in Christmas eve, Céline had organized a spectacular drum and dance show. We also enjoyed the customized trips through the Mangroves, where we learned a lot about the flora and fauna from the highly experienced guides. The nature is absolutely amazing! The room was very well equipped with AC, mosquito net, warm shower, and a lot of nice little details (e.g., homemade soap). Furthermore, the breakfast was very tasty (a lot of different homemade marmelades and yogurt, as well as eggs, baguette, etc.). Most importantly, we really liked that Céline and Gilles have built up a foundation to help develop the village community. Hence, you receive very friendly reactions from the villagers when mentioning that you stay at Keur Niaye.

All the food and specially the korean dishes cooked by Celine were simply delicious, much better tham in many restaurants. GermanyJust everything! Keur Niaye is a beautiful oasis and Celine and Gilles are such amazing hosts! They organized two unforgettable tours with the great guide Doudou, who knew almost every animal and tree. Every evening there was a really delicious three-course menu and it was particularly great that we ate together with the hosts and learned a lot about the village. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully furnished. We could have stayed much longer and done one of the exciting activities every day!

SenegalNot staying longer.
I stayed two days at Keur Niaye. Because I was the only one there the day I arrived, I was lucky to be upgraded to a bigger room. I loved the calming garden, the roaming chicken, the bathroom. Bed was comfortable and the room decoration very authentic. Breakfast was simple: tea, eggs, bread and a variety of homemade jam (mango, lime and orange) . It was enough to sustain a four-hour bike ride to Missirah. Diner was fish from her husband's morning fish trip. She and her husband, as well as the whole staff, are very warm, welcoming and helpful. I went on a guided kayak tour with Doudou in the bolongs, He was very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora, and a very good sport. There is a variety of excursions they offer and some of the proceeds go the local community. This is becoming a lengthy but I cannot express how much I enjoyed my stay there and would highly recommend.

We arrived to a garden oasis full of colorful birds and flowers and were greeted by an absolute gem of a woman, Celine. Not only is she an incredible cook but she is extremely well connected to the natural world of the Sine Saloum delta and the local Toubacouta community. Everything you eat and enjoy is made locally or on site. Lodgings were very comfortable. The excursions were worth every franc, we were truly blown away by the places she took us and the knowledge of her local guides. She and her husband give generous support the local school children so staying here you are helping in their efforts. Left feeling like we learned so much and made a true friend.
