Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SenegalThey offered breakfast in the morning, but hosted it at a restaurant which took away the feel of personalization, and the staff seemed more occupied by the customers than by their Airbnb guests.
It was well situated on the island, offering privacy without being isolated. The place had lovely decor and great outside spaces to sit and relax!

IrelandThe bed. Please, change the mattress.
It's a beautiful island. Stuff very nice. Hotel very clean. If you are going to Dakar, don't. Go to Gorée Island. It's the oasis of peace. You will not relax in Dakar. We were so glad, we stayed with Maison Augustin. Thanks guys. O. One more thing. If you decide to stay there, you have to try some fish from the owners restaurant. THEY CAN DO FISH. Honestly. The best fish in my life. Beautiful.

United KingdomThe staff were amazing, one guy in particular (whose name I have forgotten!!), he was so welcoming, friendly and helpful, he offered us a room change because I had the same name as one of the rooms. He even ran down to the ferry port when we were leaving with something we had forgotten. The Breakfast was lovely on the terrace with omlette, tea/coffee, bread and bissap juice. The rooms were nicer than on the photo. Showers were hot and had good power.

CanadaThe building is old so it is not very soundproof so you hear lots of other guests moving around. Part of the charm of the place but light sleepers might not love it.
Breakfast was delicious. Host was very accommodating. Space was clean. The roof terrace was beautiful and a great place to relax. The roof was spacious and the bed was very comfortable

it’s an atmospheric period property. Staff were very helpful and friendly. After two weeks in Senegal we have come to expect that. The bed was a lovely wide four-poster with mosquito nets and there was also a settee. There was a nice bathroom with hot water.

Maison Augustin Ly absolutely exceeded my expectations! I arrived on the last chaloupe of the night and they kindly offered to pick me up at the ferry stop. the house is located in a quiet and beautiful corner of the island with views of the sea and hyou can walk a few minutes anywhere. This might be one of the few times where the room was MORE beautiful in real life than in pictures! There's outdoor spaces too where you can read, take your breakfast, etc. Highly recommend!

United KingdomI stayed on the island for a long weekend while working remotely, and was very happy with Augustin Ly. It is a small villa in a quiet part of the island, with several rooms surrounding a central courtyard. There's a lovely rooftop patio where I often had breakfast and sat working, and which felt very private. The room is spacious, the bed was comfortable and has a mosquito net, and the small shower was surprisingly good. There are three fans in the room which should be fine most of the year. I worked inside the room, in the courtyard and on the rooftop patio - the wifi was stable and strong, and at times I went to the owner's restaurant near the jetty (Chez Thio), which also has good wifi (and great food). The host, Modu, was always on hand and even went to the restaurant one night to get me dinner when I wanted to keep working while eating. I don't imagine remote working is what most people go to the island for, and was delighted by how much they accommodated me. Modu is a rare host with a real talent for guest relations - which is wonderful when you travel alone. I'm grateful to him for the wonderful breakfasts, chats about the island, and for keeping my medicine in the guest house's fridge. Augustin Ly is great value for money. You can find an air-conditioned villa on the island and live in luxury if you can afford it, but if you want to meet interesting people, get to know the island and enjoy great hospitality, this is the place to stay.

Modu took very good care, carefully prepared the breakfast, showed me around and was always there for suggestions and helping without intruding or hassling. The island is very nice. Old, lots of history and beautiful houses. It is small so very walkable

United KingdomWe got off the ferry and walked across to Chez Thio, ( the owner of Maison Augustine LY also owns this bar ),where we had a welcome cold beer before being taken to our accommodation , which is a very short walk from the bar .A beautiful property , clean and spacious room with a large comfortable bed .Outside there are two seating areas , one downstairs and a lovely upstairs terrace . Breakfast is included and was served in the beautiful surroundings of the courtyard. Thank you Modu and the staff for making our stay an enjoyable experience. SenegalI really enjoyed the general atmosphere of the house. The room was large, with very high ceilings. The bed was comfortable and had a mosquito net. No AC, but none was needed, between the 2 fans and the marine breeze it was a very confortable sleep (3rd week of November, it's bit cooler). Nice patio and balcony. It was easy to find from the jetty. Modou, the staff member, was really kind and recommended a knowledgeable, old- fashioned guide (French-speaking) with whom I had a great visit. I did not try the breakfast, so no comment there.
