Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWifi connection was ok but could be better.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room as sizable for one person and had tea/coffee to make for yourself. The breakfast was scrumptious and nice. The location may be 5-7 minutes away form the location where most hotels are located, but I dont walking little for the great value for money this hotel provides.

United KingdomRooms are ok, beds are hard (but surprisingly good sleep) however there is some mold starting to appear in the bathrooms (which are somewhat aged and actually in need of refurbishment). No swimming pool and no bar. The value for money aspect makes up for that.
The major plus is the location; central and on arguably Paramaribo's most beautiful street adorned with these classic old wooden houses Paramaribo is famous for. Considering its a 3 star place the breakfast was excellent and staff was very pleasant and helpful. All in all a great value stay

BrazilThe bathroom had some issues, the hand douche had a weak water flow and the above the head douche was not functioning. The washbasin was leaking, my feet were getting wet. Given the hot climate, drinking water should be provided
The breakfast was good but everyday exactly the same, there must be some variation. Clean bed and bedsheets. Air conditioning was functioning well.

AustriaReally nothing serious to complain about. But if I am a bit picky, I would wish that the breakfast would start a bit earlier than at 8am. Normally they set it up before 8am, but not all the options are available.
Everything. The staff is perfect, really professional and helpful. The hotel has its charm. Nice to stay in an older building with some history behind. The room size and the view from the room (202), absolutely no complaints.

United KingdomNothing - although an additional power point would be welcome
The hotel is a lovely old building in the unesco world heritage site part of the city five minutes walk from independence square and 10 minutes from restaurants. The interior is modern, well furnished and we could not have had a warmer welcome from the staff. Our room was spacious and clean. Everything worked. The best bathroom in the whole of our south america trip. Generous breakfast. Great value. The staff are outstanding.

BelgiumSome maintenance needed to be done, for example, some tiles on some of the steps were missing.
The staff working there are nice. The location is convenient to the center of Paramaribo. The breakfast is good and they make eggs to your order in addition to the buffet. There is a small refrigerator in the room, which is helpful.

Netherlands· A few things: - WiFi is rather weak and doesn't work in some areas - the rooms are not of the same quality (even within the same price category) - noise isolation is almost non-existent - you will be disturbed at night if you sleep in one of the rooms facing the street. The drivers make a lot of noise at night... this time we were in the room facing the road and it was hardly bearable
Liked · Hotel is located in the heart of Paramaribo - walking distance to majority of things that one may want to do in the city centre. The front-desk personnel was super nice and friendly. The room size was good, fully stocked bathroom. We suggest taking the breakfast with the hotel, as it was very nice and the coffee was decent. All in all, it is a solid option for someone looking to stay in downtown.

United StatesThe showers in the rooms usually did not have hot water
We greatly enjoyed our time at the Hotel Palacio in Paramaribo, Suriname. The hotel is in an excellent location in the historic district of Paramaribo. You can walk to all the main sites in ten minutes. The hotel is recently renovated so everything works well, except sometimes they don’t have hot water for the showers. That is not a big deal since it is so warm in the tropical environment. The air conditioners work very well, again everything is clean and in good condition. The rooms are pretty spacious with two windows and two beds. The prices for the rooms are very reasonable. Everyone on the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, perhaps the friendliest I’ve ever seen. They will give you good advice about getting taxis and which sights to see. Actually, everyone in the country seems glad to see us. The included breakfast is quite good. I recommend the Suriname omelette. I highly recommend staying in the Hotel Palacio when in Paramaribo. I also recommend visiting the Pepperpot Nature Reserve. It is only a 15 minute drive out of the city and full of exotic wildlife. That’s the best reason to go to Suriname.
