Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AngolaThe beach is across the road and not super clean. The breakfast was nice. We had dinner one night and they brought us the wrong order. It was very well cooked and presented though. The pool is central and nicely laid out, but there is no deep section and the water was cloudy... this could be due to heavy recent rains though.
The location is near the airport which is convenient. The pool is nice in the middle of the courtyard. The rooms are a good size and the bathroom is spacious with a good shower. The staff are very helpful. You are close to the chocolatiers shops for the city.

United KingdomWe were in a first floor room and our balcony was painted entirely grey, and when seated, you couldn’t see a much of a view - only the grey wall of the balcony so it wasn’t that nice to sit out on. The beautiful bar area around the pool closed at 6pm every night and they switched all the lights off, which was a real shame because it would have been a lovely place to eat or have a drink, and meant there was nowhere nice to sit outside in the evening - a real pity in a tropical country!
Friendly staff, nice layout, peaceful.

United StatesBreakfast was a bit too monotonous even for 4 nights. We had problems with mosquitos in our room and were surprised to not have mosquito nets. Having to reserve the gym and only one person at a time.
The airport pick up and drop offs were a nice touch. We did two separate stays due to our trip to Principe. The second room in the villa that we spent 4 nights in was much better than the first stay. This hotel seems to be where the diplomats and politicians stay when in town on business.

United Arab EmiratesThe quiet, surrounding green garden and pool area. so relaxing and peaceful. Well kept gardens, cosy, spacious and stylish rooms. Delicious and large servings of food in the restaurant and room service. Friendly, helpful staff. Free airport shuttle and fast wifi all over the hotel. Location only 5 mins from the airport and location in the town across the street from a bay, loved looking out the window to the water while having breakfast. They kept our suitcases for us while we spent the next few days over in Príncipe. Secure parking for our jeep rental. Safe in the room, mini fridge to keep cold drinks and kettle to make tea/coffee in the room. We would stay here again.

United KingdomThe food I had at dinner time did not meet my expectation, it could have been way better knowing that the cuisine from São Tomé and Príncipe is very rich. Although Omali has an international menu, I feel that the execution of some dishes could have been better.
The atmosphere at Omali is very enjoyable, the rooms are clean and excellent breakfast selection, lots of options. The food I had for dinner could have been better, was not my favourite and prices are quite high, locals could never afford a dinner for almost €40 when the minimum wage is €50; therefore Omali is definitely a location only for tourists or locals with money.

United KingdomOverall the place was somewhat soulless and compared to the rest of the island was not at all a stunning location, however convenient for the airport and onwards trip to principe. Practical and comfortable but lacking character and identity.
The staff were nice and garden/pool area was cool. The food (other than breakfast) was really fantastic, like next level.

NetherlandsThe hotel could have some renovations; it looks a bit worn out even though for São Tomé’s standards it’s still 5-star and is compared to all the other hotels on the island. The gym and tennis court need renovations. The beach right in front of the hotel isn’t really as nice as expected; not really inviting for swimming. You need a taxi to go into town, taxis can get pricy.
The location is very near airport and very good as a start point for further explorations. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is nice; very fresh and most of it giving a wonderful introduction to the local kitchen. The pool is very nice and great to spend some hours at. The gym and tennis court need renovations though.

NetherlandsMenu is very limited with not many options for children. Tours offered by the hotel are over-priced. Better to look for options outside the hotel. The reception was often left alone because the same person is both receptionist and driver. Very inconvenient when trying to check out.
The property is well maintained, beds are confortable and food is delicious. Staff are helpful but not always available.

United StatesAs a tea drinker, some black tea bags besides the lemongrass tea would be nice. Wine prices are a bit on the high side and selection limited.
Hard to find anything bad to say about this hotel - everything works well. The manager is very hands on and obviously well liked by her staff and it translates into an excellent experience throughout. There are copious common spaces to hand out and the rooms are spacious. The restaurant and bar were also good experiences. It was very convenient to. the airport and the airport transfers worked very well.
