Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceBeware. The lodge is absolutely serious that they cannot guarantee availability of guides for Kaeng Krachan. They work with only 3 oversubscribed guides. Official scheduled tours of Kaeng Krachan do not exist. Neither the lodge nor the park HQ could offer any tour or guide, private or shared, during my 3-day stay during the week, and a couple of other guests were in the same situation. This was surprising and disappointing and feels like a failure of the KK ecotourism sector - at the very least money is being left on the table. Again: this is not a specific criticism of Baan Maka, which seems to be the best lodge in the area.
Comfortable lodge with beautiful grounds and excellent management. Night walk was delightful.

AustraliaI chose this lodge because it offers a variety of nature based activities to do within the lodge grounds, Kaeng Krachen NP and surrounding area. The lodge was very comfortable and convenient for access to Kaeng Krachen NP and local bird watching hides. The night tour within the grounds of the lodge and bird watching tour of the NP with Games were excellent.

United StatesEverything was excellent!
Baan Maka is in a beautiful location, and is very convenient for visiting the national park. Our bungalow was spacious and kept very clean. The restaurant serves great food and drinks, and the service is really good. Staff were always available to help, whether in the restaurant, booking walks/tours, or pointing out birds/reptiles to guests who may be interested. Finally; the property itself is a great place to wander the trails and birdwatch. We loved it!

United StatesHaving the beds on top of a platform made it a bit difficult to get in and out.
Our three-night stay at Baan Maka Nature Lodge was the perfect jumping off location for two days of visits to Kaeng Krachan National Park. While our room was not fancy, it was more than adequate and very clean. We appreciated having both an air conditioner and a fan. The staff were very accommodating and the on-site restaurant served delicious meals. We also highly recommend the night tour that was arranged by the lodge. It was the best night tour we have ever taken!

United StatesNot a negative, but traveling to the lodge can be challenging for folks without wheels. It IS possible to take a GRAB direct from Petchaburi to the lodge, but best to book ahead.
A great nature lodge run by great folks. Baan Maka Nature Lodge is an oasis for birdwatching, quiet relaxing, or socializing with other nature lovers. This is an isolated lodge, but the on-site restaurant is quite good and reasonably priced. Tours to the national park are personalized and excellent.

United KingdomIf I had to pick a fault, the shower pressure could have been a little bit higher. However, this was a very minor fault that can be expected at such a remote location.
Excellent food. Friendly, helpful staff. Lodge grounds brimming with wildlife. Very close to Keang Krachan National Park.

New ZealandThey arranged a pick up from the station who didn't turn up. We ended up in a grab taxi after an hour of waiting but it was for half the price so worked out fine.
We saw a slow loris next to the restaurant area, just coming to feed at the bird table which was crazy. Incredible wildlife at this place. The room was nice and clean with a large bed. There was universal chargers which helped with all the cameras. They would arrange for tour guides and trips and help with travel.

SwitzerlandAs the place is a bit remote (that's why we loved it), it's quite uneasy to reach and move around if you don't have your own car. Also, don't forget to withdraw some cash before you arrive
The staff is super friendly and the lodge is beautiful with big gardens full of wildlife. Very close to the national park. The owner was super kind to come and pick us up at Phetchaburi for a decent price and even organised for us a last minute guided visit in the park for the day after our arrival. The food was delicious (some of the veggies we had were grown in their own garden!) and the rooms super clean. Thank you for this amazing stay, we loved every minute of it !

SwitzerlandNo bicycles for rent. The guests are fully dependent on hotel's transportation. The fact that credit cards are not accepted is not convenient. No ATM close to the hotel to withdraw cash. The hotel needs a boat for people to be able to ride it on the lake. The canoe which the hotel has - is old and not really usable.
The location of the hotel in the middle of wild nature is great. There is a lake nearby. The place is close to the National Part entrance.

NetherlandsThis is such a lovely place for birders and nature lovers. The area is beautiful, their grounds are well kept. You can walk in the garden, do a little nature trail and go to a nice viewpoint. Breakfast starts at 5.30, so after you can immediately go birding. We went 4 days with Games, a fantastic guide that showed us so much. We went to Kaeng Krachan, but also to other places such as Pak Thale. We saw the spoon-billed sandpiper there. Really special! Baan Maka can also bring you to some hides in the area for a reasonable price. That was also a nice experience. You can also go on a night walk around the property. The room is basic, bit has everything you need. The bed is really good and airco worked perfectly. After 6 nights, we still didn't want to leave. We might come back some other time, to see pitta's and broadbills in the nesting season. Thanks Games, Ian and staff for an amazing experience. Also a shout out to the chefs. The food is amazing. Try the som tam, coconut soup, spring rolls, vegetable tempura and panang!

This was the best place to stay. The staff was wonderful, the food was great and the wildlife experience was wonderful. Be sure to book your guides through Baan Maka. We did not and our experience was not as great as those that booked from the resort. They really know what they are doing.
