The host, Apple, is simply the sweetest and she waa super helpful. The hotel is located right next to the bus terminal 1 and the night market but the street remains pretty calm. Everything was clean and cozy. And the dog Wesley is a highlight!!

-No bathrooms on the level where private double room is, not a major issue but it was just annoying at night as we would completely wake up. -The private double is a box room, therefore very tight with no storage. We stayed 5 nights and towards the end of our stay we struggled with this. -Lots of mosquitos in the room during the day and night, we wore spray to limit getting bitten as much but didn’t completely eliminate the issue. -Free water refills would have been a nice touch. We had this at other hostels and it’s so convenient.

-The owner and cleaner are lovely. Very helpful and informative when it comes to local sights. -The location is perfect for buses and night markets. -The free tea, coffee and cake station is great! -They sell lots of drinks at reception at good prices. -The facilities were always kept very clean!

The location, the rooftop and mostly the staff! I don't remember the names but the two ladies were amazing, super nice, always smiling and ready to give you advice.

Super friendly owner, who remembers your name the next day. Excellent location next to the busstation and night market for good local food. Coffee, tea and cookies for the guests. Dormitories and bathroom are clean and beds comfortable. The place to be in Chiang Rai!

The electrical sockets in the room were a little dodgy and not all of them worked.

The friendliest owner and softest beds I have experienced yet in Thailand! The location is also great being a couple of minutes walk away from the bus station and night market.

Beds are too comfy, so you don’t want to leave at all ;)

Apple and her boyfriend were always really kind and helpful in every situation. She helped me at 7pm to join a 2 days hiking starting on the next day, and even managed to wash my clothes the same night so I had fresh clothes for the hike. Always up for a chat and recommendations, if I’ll come back then definitely will stay there again. There’s also a Cosy rooftop, with some weights as well, it’s great doing a morning workout there.

Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They helped me with suggestions on places to visit and at what time of day it would be best to go. Also helped with getting my proper information for getting into Laos and doing the slow boat. Place was clean as well. Nice location too, few minute walk from bus station and right by the night bazaar.

Great location 2 min walk from the bus station and daily night market for food. Apple, the owner, is super nice and remembers everyones name, incredible. Also very helpful for tours and the Laos crossing! Beds wide and comfy, good level of aircon, curtains available and great WiFi. Free coffee and snacks at all times. Rooftop with 360 degree view. Would definitely stay again!

Absolutely loved our stay here at Backpack Hostel. First of all, it's a perfect location - 2 minutes walk from where our bus arrived. And literally around the corner from the night market. Ness was very helpful and welcoming. He really takes care of us. And also organized us on a slow boat ticket to Laos which was very smooth. The rooms are clean and have powerful air conditioning. The rooftop is also a great spot to sit and have a drink while watching the sunset. Would definitely recommend.

The location is great, next to the bus terminal and main streets. The host is so kind and helpful, he gave us many detailed informations and was responsive to any questions we had! We definitely recommend, the place is modern and clean, the beds are really comfy (best we’ve had during our trip for now!) and there is even a rooftop to enjoy some rest or take a drink.

Had some difficulties with hot water in the shower, figured it out at the end. If you are late bird, keep in mind it might get noise in the mornings (city center)

Absolutely everything was wonderful. The hostel is located 1 minute walk from the main bus station, so if you want to visit White Temple, you can just go to the bus station and book a bus. The staff was very friendly.
