Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyRoad towards the Beach Club is very steep to walk in midday sun!
Pool is super! The Beach Club is in the middle of Sairee and Mae Haad Beach - both nice in close walking distance!

BelgiumIt was a bit dead after 21.00, which was annoying when we forgot a key card (took a while before we could reach the reception staff) and the bar was also closed very early.
Location was very convenient, we likes the pools and the location next to the beach. Ate at the restaurant a couple of times, which was also excellent (surprisingly nice pizza, which the kids in our group definitely appreciated).

Perfect located and suited for beach holiday but also for exploring the island. Rooms are located in several houses, so that you do not notice other guests that much. Pool extremely clean.

NetherlandsThe surrounding area looks poor; the bar/breakfast area is abandoned and rusty. Not appealing at all. Steep uphill climb to the walking street. Breakfast was good, bit repetitive after three or four days.
Amazing bungalows on the beach. Sunset views Close to the pier Relatively close to the walking street Friendly helpful staff Great massages Big swimming pools (we could also use the one on the resort next door) Spacious rooms and bedrooms

FranceThere is no sewerage system on Koh Tao, nor garbage treatment or disposal, and little or no recycling. The claims by the tourist authorities, dive centres and 'visit Koh Tao' groups that the island is an ecological jewel sparkling in crystal clear waters are at best delusional, at worst a downright lie ! In the centre of the island is an ever-growing mountain of stinking garbage. Sewerage flows across the beach from between Koh Tao Regal Resort and Montra Resort directly into the sea on Mae Haad beach. If you agitate the water it produces soap bubbles ! It also contains suspicious brown flecks. The seabed is strewn with pieces of dead coral. On other beaches, and across the island, the ubiquitous, poorly hidden blue plastic waste pipes do their smelly business! Restaurants have little posters telling us to 'avoid single use plastic', then serve their juices in plastic beakers with plastic straws ! Polystyrene is 'illegal' and officially banned on the island, but is everywhere to be seen, usually just thrown into the bushes. There seem to be no planning controls, or enforcement of the rules. For someone naive enough to believe the publicity, it was downright depressing. I felt conned. On a lovely little island of 7kms x 3kms with hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, each using the toilet, and expecting at least one shower a day, this is about as far from 'sustainable' as it's possible to get ! They seem to have chosen not to learn from the mistakes we made in the industrialized west a century or more ago. I fear Koh Tao will not last much longer like this. So sad.
The 'Beach Club' is excellently located, right at the far end of Mae Haad beach, so it's quiet, but within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. Mona and her colleagues at reception are kind and helpful. The massages provided by Jane, a highly experienced masseuse at the 'Beach Club', are exceptional. Much better than the average . The Beach Club claims to be part of a sustainability project on Koh Tao, which is good, however..........................

United KingdomThe room had not been cleaned. We found 2 dead worms in the room, which looked like they had been there for a long time. The breakfast options were rubbish. Minimal staff at the hotel, and the reception desk was not open at all times. We were not sure if there was a swimming pool, or whether it was part of the other hotel next door - and staff did not speak much english for us to be able to ask the question.
Amazing location - very easy to walk to the pier and to the bars/restaurants. The room was very large.

United KingdomIt would be great if they had a little bar to get a drink or something in the evening, looks like one may be under construction but not yet finished. However, you're close to a multitude of bars and restaurants and there is a fridge to store drinks if you just want to sit on your balcony and relax of an evening.
Loved the location and surroundings, so close to Sairee but tucked away in a quiet corner. Very relaxed feel to the place, lovely little beach with some nice snorkeling. All kept very clean and nice friendly staff. Shuttle waiting to meet us when we got off the boat and to take us back at the end of our stay. Would happily stay again and recommend.

AustraliaThe beds were very hard/firm, not the most comfortable, but the staff did give me extra pillows which helped a bit.
Great location that is close to the pier/town, and both pool and beach on your doorstep was lovely. But also set just off the main road enough for it to quiet and relaxing too. Air conditioning in the rooms was great, fresh towels and water every day.

ideal location on the beach 200 yards from ferry 200 yards from Sairee beach. therefore peaceful but all the bustle you want within a 2 minutes walk.I had assumed the bungalows would be fairly basic so pleasantly surprised at the quality. beautiful sunset views and the water literally 20 feet from my door.
