Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMinor points are: The breakfast is free, but uninspiring. It's basically coffee, toast with jam or margarine. It gets tedious after 4 days. The room has some quirky design choices. There is a table projecting from the wall, but it too narrow to work on except for the smallest of laptops. The electrical point is too far from the bed, although the hotel has provided an extension cord in every room. The only above minor issue is: The mattress is thin and the bed is hard even by Asian standards. I slept okay as I'm used to firmer mattresses.
Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. I've seen the team clean the the bathrooms and common areas multiple times a day. They even clean your room. The location is fantastic. The clock tower, night market and bus terminal are only 5-10 minutes walk. There's plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes close by. There a lounge or kitchen where you can work on your laptop or just be more social. The kitchen has fridges, plates, utensils and a microwave, but there's no cooking facilities. The room had both AC and fan. The fan helps to circulate air so the AC doesn't have to be as cold. The shared bathrooms are cleaned regularly. with liquid soap and shampoo provided. The hotel even provides a towel free of charge.

BangladeshCan't think of anything. Everything was perfect for me.
This was my first time staying at a hostel, so I was a little apprehensive. But the moment I reached Bed Friends Poshtel, all my worries were gone. The staff were so helpful and nice. Front desk people are pretty fluent in English, so no communication issues. The other staff are also very helpful. The location was great, only a few minutes walk from the old bus station and the night market. The clock tower is also at an walking distance . There are many restaurants nearby, along with a great tea shop (if that's your thing)and many coffee shops, cocktail bars and weed shops. It's perfect for introverts who want an affordable accommodation while keeping their privacy. Everything was neat and clean, and the staff will immediately take care of things if you have any complaints. I highly recommend it, and will definitely stay here when I visit Chiang Rai again.

United StatesThe Postal was very close to the bus station, a short walk. When I checked in, they were very helpful, and communicated clearly. He surprised me by telling me my room was on the first floor. I put a note with my reservation asking for a lower room as my knee is sore from trekking in Sumatra. I prefer fewer stairs with my pack. They put me closest to the stairs on the first floor of the rooms. that doesn't normally happen! I loved the top floor covered garden lounge and had early morning coffee up there. It was spotless, the staff was all friendly and helpful and it deserves it's high rating!

FranceThe bed was doing sooooo much noise just by moving an inch, it was super noisy. People slamming the doors and pretty unrespectful, but the hostel can't manage every individual.
Everything was perfect. The staff was amazing, especially the man that welcomed us at 11pm. The bathroom were super clean.

United KingdomJust maybe a bit quiet for some.
Very nice chilled out hostal. Lovely rooftop area, shame they dont have breakfast up there. The staff were very friendly and helpful they helped me book the boat to Laos. My bank card got stuck in an ATM in one of the small towns on the way to the ferry terminal in Loas. The woman in charge of the hostal associated tour us helped me get it back in Luang Prabang. Forever greatfull 🙏

MalaysiaThe room is a little less spacious for the price I paid. But yea my privacy was assured at least. The room wallpaper is pink - maybe can ask the staff to check in another room without the pink wallpaper. 😅
Private bedroom Lots of common areas to mingle with hostel mates and chat with the staff Super approachable staff for kind advice - they told me to book grab bike since I didn't have enough time to join the day tour Staff also provided lots of tips to get around the town and there's a rooftop view that's pretty cool to watch at night Comfortable mattress to sleep on Clean shared bathroom

It was in an ideal location for the nightlife being around the corner but it was far enough away so that it was nice and quiet, the inside was very clean with changing the beds available everyday if you wanted. Free breakfast was great as well and the staff were super friendly

FranceFYI, I love a good hard bed, but honestly the bed was too hard even for me. It's a really nice bed but it's as hard as a plank of wood. I sleep on my stomach and it actually hurt my breasts sometimes because it was so hard 😂 A few tips to make this place even greater: - a night lamp next to the bed on the little shelf would be really nice, especially because the light is so horribly white - change light bulbs to yellow light, being in that bedroom feels like being in a hospital - find a break system for the doors - they slam and make your own door jolt and a lot of noise. It's a bit annoying when you're trying to sleep
Great hostel in the dead center of Chiang Rai yet in a quiet street. It was so clean, even the shared bathrooms. Also really nicely decorated and they even have free toasts, coffee and tea in the morning. The staff was really nice, you honestly can't beat that price, especially for the comfort you get. I'd come back there in a heartbeat if ever in Chiang Rai again :)
