Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaForget about the breakfast here, it's inedible. The rooms are just passable after a steep ascent up a tight staircase. All can be forgiven though because the location and the friendly staff made the stay a breeze.
The location makes this place. If you're looking for a rustic oasis in an urban jungle area of Chanthaburi, only minutes walk to the beautiful old town, this is it! The view is 5 star at sunset looking out over the river with the rumble of the Chanthaburi traffic hurtling past. As a travel Youtuber I look for accomodation that is unusual and visually interesting - and Chanmel Riverside ticked those boxes for me. Aim to arrive at 4pm for some spectacular gold hour sunset!

United StatesHard to find, very small entrance next to the bridge over the river. I was not aware that there is no elevator. I have a mobility issue with my knees, going up 4 flights of very steep stairs to the room was a huge effort.
Good hotel, great staff. Motorcycle parking under the bridge.

United KingdomThe American breakfast did not please us, but the rice option was better.
The location is great for the gem district and the historic area by the river. The room was bigger than we expected and comfortable with good wifi. Above all Mook, who worked on reception, was extremely helpful, suggesting where we might visit (mangroves, beaches) and even more importantly arranging our onward journey to Koh Chang. Her colleague took us to the bus stop to catch the minivan - extremely helpful. There was a barbecue most nights which was very enjoyable too. Motorbike hire was reasonable and the motorbikes in good condition

United KingdomMajor downside for us was the size of the room. It really was like playing human Tetris in room 301. Too small for 2 people, 2 backpacks and 2 day packs. Nowhere to put or hang anything. Bags ended up blocking the door. Very noisy ( even with ear plugs)as close to bridge and traffic. Sink drained onto bathroom floor. Bathroom unhygienic with pebble feature almost impossible to clean regularly.
Just the loveliest staff - very kind, friendly & hard working. Breakfast included. Good location by river in an interesting town. Nice communal areas. Clean room. Nice bedding. Good air con. Fridge and kettle.

AustraliaIt is a fine place for the price and I think, after looking at more expensive places further away from this immediate area, I would choose it for atmosphere, convenience and the views of the river
The location is fabulous. It is right on the river, 2 minutes work from the heart of the gem market area. I stayed on the top floor and looked across the river. A short walk up river , on my side , led me to the next bridge. I crossed from there and came back along the river to the large Catholic Church. I am an early morning walker for exercise and the views back across the river to the old buildings and their totally gorgeous refelctions in the river was wonderful. The hotel itself has wonderful staff and the owners were experienced gem dealers themselves. On the Saturday I was there the gem market was in full BUZZ with dealers from all over coming to buy and sell mainly but also to get rougher stones cut, polished etc. In the afternoon some dealers came to the hotel garden on the river to relax, drinks some beers and of course continue to haggle !! I joined them, including the owner of the hotel, to find out a little more ( from zero understanding ) of how the market worked. It was such a good experience in this lovely location. I booked a GRAB taxi one day for a four hour trip outside town which was fabulous also. BUT the hotel themselves have cars with drivers if you want to - I just forgot and had already booked the day trip. I am sure worth asking them . I even went down to the estuary where the river meets the sea and had a very reasonable and tasty seafood meal So I recommend the town and the hotel.

AustraliaBut the rooms are too small and the stairs too difficult for the price. A small ensuite bathroom has been inserted into what was once a decent sized bedroom leaving hardly enough room for the double bed squashed up against the wall. The room might be fine for a single person.
The best thing about this property is the incredible receptionist Mook. Cheerful and always enthusiastic and helpful. I hope her employers appreciate what an asset she is. The other staff a very good too. Carried our luggage up to our room on the 4th floor up the steep stairs and down again. Having the balcony is great. The location is also good, but

GermanyThe hotel manager Mook is just awesome. She was super helpful to organise a motorbike, bus pick up to Trat, tips for the city walk and was just super nice. Rooms were clean, shower warm and breakfast yummy. Terrace is very cosy with river view, perfect for a beer before bed time. Located right in the city center, it was perfect for a one day stay. If I get through Chanthaburi again, I'll stay there for sure!

NorwayIt was nothing I didn't like.
Superb hotel right in the centre of town and right by the river. Very friendly and helpful staff who spoke very good English. I had a very cute whitewashed room where they had put some thoughts into creating the bathroom. Fridge and a kettle in the room. All toiletries supplied. Soft mattress and a duvet. Superb WiFi. American breakfast was included in the price. But the best of it all was the lovely outdoor sitting area right by the river, especially in the late afternoon lights and at night. Beers and other cold drinks for sale. The restaurant had excellent Thai food. The location is excellent. The vans to Trat are crossing the bridge next to the hotel, and the staff called the bus station to book for me. The van picked me up at the bridge. I suppose you can also jump off incoming vans there. I wish I could have stayed an extra day.
