Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI liked the laid back location! Being tucked away in the jungle was a nice change of scenery 👌I was the only guest in the whole place, do this was a bug plus too! Easy to rent motorbike, perfect like general store shop for all your Thai goodies and great coffee and breakfast. Then I was able to take a 10 min walk or 5 - 7 motorbike drives all over the North and South and ending on very peaceful and serene beaches. The staff was in top of good service and was helpful in booking a very reasonable local bus to catch my transport to Hat Yai.

GermanyThere is not so much to do around the Hotel if you dont have a scooter or car but they rent schooters so that shouldn´t be a problem :)
I really liked how friendly everyone was. Breakfast was delivered every morning to my room and the rooms were in a nice and quiet environment to relax. I would stay here again if i came back to Khao Lak!

ThailandIt's far from the town. The TV didn't work, nor the bathroom fan, nor the bedside lamp. The air conditioning was too small for the room. It's right by the road. The garden was tiny and dried out. Breakfast was really basic. You can get much better places for the same money in Khao Lak town. Try the Briza which also has a pool.
The room was clean. It was cheap. Not far from the wonderful Apsara Resort beach bar - they have bikes for rent.

SwedenIt's very noisy! The hotel is situated right by the main road, which has three lanes, each way. Bikes, trucks, buses, you name it. On top of that, there are rediculously loud roosters and a goose, all making crazy noises right in front of your porch. The only way you can get some peace and quiet is if you're lucky to stay in a bungalow at the far end. Another thing us the owner (the girls who manages the place). As many reviewers have previously mentioned, she is passive agressive and tends to be rude, sneaky and condescending. If you get a room with breakfast, keep in mind that you have to preorder it and inform the owner about the exact time you want it served.
You get your own private bungalow. New, modern, clean except for some dust here and there. Two bottles of water are provided daily. There's a kettle so you can make tea or coffee.

RomaniaWe travel full time and have stayed in hundreds of hotels and resorts so far, but the Garden Villa experience is one of the top 3 strange experiences 1. The chubby young woman who manages the location is the type of passive aggressive personality, bored and tired. (you will find this characterization in other comments as well). That type of person who was born bored. You understand what I mean... 2. Scooters can be rented at the location. If you are going to rent one, maximum vigilance! Check the fuel tank carefully because it is handed over to you empty (0.5 l) and then claims it was full. We suffered the following fact: I received the scooter with 0.5 l of gasoline, but on the documents it was written that it was full. So be very vigilant, scams are practiced at this location! 3. Breakfast that is included is a real curse. You must clearly specify every day the time at which you serve it. There is no clear range. 4. In principle, the administrators of this property would prefer not to serve breakfast because it is more profitable for them, so they will do everything to get you to give it up yourself. In conclusion, the big problem of this location is the unfriendly staff and atmosphere. Pros: It's clean, the rooms are clean and confortable

AustriaThe hosts behaviour turned kinda passive aggressive after we asked for an early breakfast to go for our tour. (For which we actually paid...) A pity, since the location was really nice but we didn't feel welcome anymore after our impudent request.
The bungalows were big, clean and really comfortable and the garden surrounding them is beautiful. The area is a bit remote, so its pretty quiet, which we appreciated.

NetherlandsThe mini villas are situated in a garden adjacent to a small river. The garden is well maintained and a very basic breakfast is brought to the villa's porch in the morning at a mutually agreed time. The portions are a bit on the small side, especially for vegetarians but maybe I'm just a big breakfast eater :-) The small-scale setting of only 9 villas is the main charm of this location compared to the many big resorts directly situated next to the beach. The family that owns the garden villas also operates a restaurant which can be reached directly from the garden via a small footpath next to villa no. 1
