Cleanliness of the pool area furniture could be better. Prices at the hotel restaurant are unnecessarily high, compared to equally tasty local food outside of the hotel.

Amazing ambience, birds tweeting since early morning, tons of well-maintained greenery, beautiful canal going through the middle of the hotel. I never felt like the hotel was full of people because of how well designed it is. Even the private pools were not really visible from other guests perspective. Really stunning! Breakfast was varied and tasty, every single day. Food in general was exceptionally tasty. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They managed to accommodate us, make us feel welcome and help us out with every single problem we had. Beach was beautiful and the massage at the beach (although not officially part of the hotel) is highly recommended. Rooms are big and have high ceilings, are really nice to be in. WiFi worked really well all around hotel (maybe just didn't reach the beach... But is that a bad thing? ;) )

This is my big gripe with many resorts in Thailand: There simply are not enough lounge chairs at the beach or pool for everyone. I find it very strange to spend so much money investing in a giant resort and so little time thinking about how to accommodate those people at the beach and pool, which is the main reason people go to a beachfront resort in the first place. They say you can't claim chairs before 10am but that rule wouldn't be unnecessary if there were enough chairs for all. If your goal in going to Khao Lak is to sit in a lounger by the beach I would recommend The Meridien or The Outrigger. I've stayed at both and they have plenty of chairs. Second issue was the beach towels. I went at 2pm and noon two days in a row to get a pool/beach towel and the guys said they were out ("no more towels!"). I've been to many resorts in Thailand and never had this issue. The guests end up holding on to them and hanging them from their balconies just in case they can't get any the next day. There are giant bags of towels by the pool. Seriously it's Thailand not exactly a hard place to get laundry done. Also maddening that when I got angry about it they managed to find towels. I shouldn't have to yell to get a beach towel at a 5 star resort. Lastly half the loungers at the beach don't have umbrellas. So if any chairs are actually available they are always directly in the sun. So easy to put umbrellas up...at least give people an option.

Rooms were a good size, very comfy bed, nice shower and good towels/linens. Staff was very nice. The pool toward the reception is quieter and well shaded. Not at the beach but better chance of finding a chair.

Stunning property in a beautiful location - not far from the Night Market which we spent an evening at (and enjoyed thoroughly!). The hotel arranged our transfers to the market which went smoothly and were affordable. Beachfront property, with clean beach and lots of sun beds - though sadly if you didn't get to them early enough - before breakfast - they were already reserved. Breakfast was exceptional - lots of choice. Rooms were very clean and comfortable; we stayed in the swim-up rooms which I strongly recommend. Staff were very pleasant and helpful always, assisting us in arranging onwards transfers. Would definitely come back!

Every morning there is a fight for sunbeds as there are only few, the beach has almost no shadow, the pool area is not cleaned everyday (or not good enough, as there are pieces of food, banana peels etc. left by guest day before). the rooms from 1000-3000 are very far from the beach so take 4000+, the ones with the pool are the best choice as there is a problem to get good spot at the pool. Many Russians.

Nice hotel, good design, helpfull staff, but there are many issues.

There was one thing we felt was unjustified. We ate dinner at the buffet, at 600 bhat per person which is not cheap at Thailand, but in addition to that we were forced to pay 10% tip to the waiters. Why did we pay for service when we literally served ourselves??

The only thing I would doubt and improve is pizza base which is biscuit like, looks and tastes weird.

Would have been good if the pools were open till a little later (eg 9 rather than 7). The pools are beautiful and it is a shame not to be able to have a swim after dusk

Best buffet breakfast ever - really high standard of food, good coffee and beautiful location. What more could you want.

They have rules regarding the areas of the pool and beach where it isn't allowed to "reserve" a sunbed with your stuff before the facilities open. However it seems like many people still do this and the staff does not react to their own rules. If they would start acting on their rules then I see no issues with the hotel at all.

Wow - what a wonderful hotel. Staff was excellent, the food was very good, location amazing (if you like beach and pool within reach of eachother) and facilities were just great. Will definetly recommend to others.

Noise isolation in the rooms is lacking, woke up early every morning to the sound of footsteps and opening doors in the corridor..

Gorgeous, spacious rooms. Lovely beach and area, many options for eating around the resort. Lovely staff. Plus that swimming pool chairs cannot be reserved before 10am.

Only 1 restaurant (the pool bar has the same menu as the big restaurant) and given there is nothing around, after 3 days it is quite boring. Pool did NOT have enough sun beds and people were actually competing and arguing and reserving early, so it creates a bit of a nasty atmosphere so we were mainly at the beach.

Very friendly, clean with private beach and a very nice pool. Nice for a short stay as it is isolated so not much to go around.

It's huge! We were lucky to be in a room that is pretty close to the beach, but the rooms that are closer to the lobby are a 10 min walk to the beach.

Great value for money. Rooms are pretty big and nicely decorated. Pool access from room is a plus. Almost like having a private pool. Location is great - beach is beautiful and calm, but has a lot of beach bars and beach massage parlors. Thai restaurant is very good.

Breakfast. We were disappointed with the choices at breakfast, not many traditional breakfast items and the quality of the food just generally did not feel 5 star. There was a poor choice of bread and the juices all tasted like sugary cordial, nothing fresh despite the lovely fresh fruit which was available. There was no labelling for allergens, something we've come to expect at 5 star hotels which is especially helpful for me as a vegan. Vegan breakfast options were poor, no vegan spread, had to ask for soya milk Evening buffet opening hours, we didn't know that the buffet was only open on certain days so we didn't get to experience this in our week-long stay by the time we wanted to try it out as it wasn't on during the week Sunbeds around the pool being in the shade until later in the day. A poor design for a new hotel Location. We were disappointed by how little was around the hotel and we're pleased our stay was only for a week due to this. Despite the Green Mango restaurant which we ate at 4 times, there really aren't many 'nice' places to eat nearby, especially not that cater to vegans The bus service into Khao Lak, we tried to book it and were told it was full and that there are only 10 seats on the bus. A poor service for a 5 star hotel and there should be buses more frequently than 3 times a week that only seat 10 passengers! The location of the hotel for trips. We had hoped it would be easier to explore the islands from this hotel than it was and not many tour providers want to come up and fetch you from Khao Lak. Most trips you do will take you down into Phuket so it's a lot of time on the bus when you want to do trips Cocktails from the pool bar weren't great quality, much nicer from the Green Mango restaurant

We loved our room, a huge swim up room and the nicest room and swim up setup we've ever had. The sun hit our terrace around 11am so we had a few hours of sun from our terrace and the little jacuzzi sections dotted around were nice. It was also lovely to have a drink on the terrace of an evening with the outdoor lights on Standards around the hotel were great and it was very clean and the daily cleaners did a great job Staff were very friendly and you were always greeted around the hotel. Service was especially good in the Green Mango restaurant Green Mango restaurant, we had some great meals there and despite being expensive compared to what is around locally it was always great food and a lovely dining experience and atmosphere. They had a seperate vegan and vegetarian menu Bell boy service was great and they'd often offer you a lift as they were driving around the hotel Evening entertainment at the hotel, whilst we only got to experience this on 1 night of our stay it was nice and the singers were great Bangsak beach, it was gorgeous and we enjoyed walking along each way and spotting the crabs depending on the time of day Watersports provided by the hotel. We only tried the kayak but it was great having this available free of charge
