Towels could have been changed more frequently, but perhaps that was on request. Otherwise everything was perfect.

Location is a little off the beaten track, which made for restful nights and glorious jungle scenery to wake to. The room was surprisingly big, the breakfast area a delightful space to dine in and the staff extremely helpful and friendly.

Nutella at breakfast would be really nice, I recommend having Nutella for the pancake breakfast, then westerners are in heaven ;-)

The street getting to hotel was tucked away and basically required a vehicle (most guests rented mopeds). On the flip side, it was quiet and private which was nice. Also, it would have been nice if the pool had lights for night swimming. There wasn’t any evening activities at the resort, (but there was at a restaurant/bar and live music at the Happy Snapper next door that was super close and we walked to twice.

The two sisters who managed Grandfather hotel were very kind and welcoming. The AC was a little different than what I was use to (1 remote handled all the AC units in our large apartment) and I had a little trouble with one of them. The sisters came over and helped us get them going and the rest of our stay was very nice! They made us breakfast and everything they prepared was delicious. They always had fresh watermelon and pineapple and made omelets to order that were quite good. Also, the banana bread muffins and mini pancakes were tasty and didnt need any butter or syrup to be enjoyed. Since we were traveling with my wife’s elderly mother who has some medical issues and also can’t hear very well, there was one day where we were doing the Surin island tour and snorkeling (which was amazing btw) and it was too much for our mother in law and the sisters offered to check up our mother and we REALLY appreciated that!

You can't walk to the beach, it's to far. But either the hotel scooter or a taxi will help.

Though the hotel is not very close to the beach, we were happy with our desicion to stay here. Very nice rooms, tasty breakfast, well-groomed garden and pool.

Great bungalows in a lovely setting. Kindest staff An, Ai and We who were so friendly and helpful provided a fantastic cooked breakfast each day. Can’t wait to return next year.

Really great place! Beautiful and quiet location. Rooms are big and clean. Swimming pool is really nice. Free bicycles and scooters for rent. Staff is great and super helpfull. Would love to stay here again someday 🙂

The frogs and crickets could be troublesome to some people.

10/10 nothing I disliked! I would recommend staying here

The staff are extremely kind and very hospitable. They welcomed me after a long journey from the airport with a cold drink and then helped take my luggage to the room. The room is exactly like the pictures, very spacious, modern and clean. AC is very strong and works well. Also very quiet area so if you want a peaceful sleep around nature this is the perfect place. When I checked out they helped me call a local cab to my next destination.

We were in the triangular A-frame room. While beds and towels were clean everything else was a little dirty - dusty surfaces, cobwebs in corners, dirty placemats on the table, mold in the shower corner. The toiletry bottles weren't filled or clean, and the "conditioner" had something that definitely wasn't conditioner in it. The design of the space looks nice from a distance, but up close there are zip ties holding loose dangling bundles of wires, a rain shower that doesn't actually work, burnt out bulbs in the light fixtures, etc. The photos don't show that the full sized bed is up in the top of the A-frame, up some steep, narrow metal steps with no hand rail. The booking description claimed the entire unit was on the ground floor. There's no railing at the top so you can step off the foot of the bed (which to be clear, is just a mattress on the floor) straight through a hole in the floor - super fun to navigate when waking up to use the bathroom at night. It's also HOT up and the top so you have to blast the fan and AC to stay cool - which at least keeps the mosquitoes off. There were lots of mosquitoes and it was impossible to see and kill them with the design of the place. I'm guessing other rooms are much nicer, but this particular room was very disappointing.

The beds were very comfortable and the linens were clean. The property is beautiful.
