How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Downstairs cafe is closed on weekends NO hot water in bathrooms (as it was so hot this wasn’t a big deal) 2 shared bathrooms between 4 rooms (didn’t have to wait for the bathrooms during our stay once) Steep stairs to get to first and second floors

The shared bathroom could need a bit more cleaning, but honestly, they are totally fine for the fact that you share.
The room was so clean and fresh! Air con worked fine, I really enjoyed it! And so quiet for the neighbourhood!

Rooms are not very soundproof, so if you have trouble sleeping while hearing the city voices at night I recommend getting earplugs for your stay.
The price/quality ratio of this hostel is phenomenal: the hostel is small and cozy, rooms are simple and clean and there’s no complaining about the bathrooms. :) Location is also quite ok: there are many restaurants, cafes and 7elevens nearby and many public transportation options. Pun, the host, is super sweet and welcoming!

For the price we paid I can't really complain about anything in particular
Free coffee and tea, good air-conditioning, good location very central, hot water worked in the shower. Extension cord in the bedroom was very useful

very small room with little space, no furniture, loud floor
a very very basic room - mattress on the floor, no furniture and almost no space in the room, AC worked fine, it’s close to Khao San, overal I guess it’s okay for that money considering other options…

Some occasional noise from a party venue close by.
Short walk to KS Rd, Has Good coffee facilities, the cafe breakfast was great (paid), the room was comfortable. the bed was comfortable. The linen was changed on request. The staff were friendly and helpful. Clean bathrooms.

Some loud event noise but it was Songhran time.
The location was very good. Not far from Koa San Rd precinct. Good clean facilities. Ground floor Cafe (Great matcha) Free basic tea/coffee for guests. Wifi was strong. Washing machine next door. A very good place to stay.

There is a cafe downstairs but it was closed during our stay (which is great because we could use tables and chairs to work as there is none in the bedroom). It would a bit uncomfortable taking a shower there (hot water is only downstairs) when the cafe would be open
Brilliant location, friendly staff, AC in the room (very important in Bangkok!), comfortable bed. There are two toilets. If only it would be available for 2 more nights we would exceed our stay there. Great value for money

It's kind of smelly in the entrance. I was able to hear other residents voices and foot steps upstairs.
The location is good, around 10 mins walk to khao khao san road. The area is quiet, you can see locals around you doing their own thing, working, feeding cats, staying in their shops. So you get a taste of authenticity. The check in process was smooth, it's all self-check in and the host was very helpful. They offer free coffee. The wifi was good, although I haven't tried it for so long. Very good for the price!

There was nothing bad about this place, just that It's a bit empty... it's not a Hostel, don't think of a place where you can meet people (they could call it Hotel). There is no staff (but you can write then always). Good foe people who want to have quietness and their personal space. Far from public transport! (there are busses but better don't trust the bus haha)
Hong Hostel is very clean, quiet and everything was correct. The location is good, close to Kao San but very quiet (but you still have to walk a bit). The whole place is beautiful and cute. Good for couples or people that want a more relaxed stay.

The shower only produced cold water and the beds were very hard unfortunately.
The location is excellent and the hostel is cozy, being tucked away in a nice alley near many lovely restaurants and cafes. The owners were very nice and accommodatng.

Very nice hostel for the price. It was very quiet and home-like. And finding the location was EXTREMELY easy. And the host was very very responsive and easy to communicate with! The rooms are very clean.
