Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Canada- Location, Location, Location. Taxis & Grab our quite expensive. If you don’t rent a car or motorcycle, it’s at least a 15 minute walk down to the beach, and then back up a fairly steep hill in the afternoon in 85 - 95F temperatures. Not much fun, especially if you are older or have mobility issues. Impiana Hotel discourages non guests from beach access, so now to reach the beach you need to cross a busy, 4 lane road, turn left, walk past the Impiana until reaching a gate on your right which says ‘Private Property’, open the gate and walk down a path to the beach. There you can rent beach chairs for the day. In the future, someone may decide to lock that gate. - The only place to sit in the living room was a small love seat. Kind of tight for 2 people staying for a month. We could have used a comfortable, padded chair. - We sleep on a firm mattress at home, but the mattress on the king size bed in our 1 bedroom apartment at ‘Soleil’ was hard to the point of being uncomfortable. We ended up putting a comforter under our bed sheet and it helped to some extent.
- The price was reasonable. Our one bedroom apartment was spacious. The pool, although relatively small, was really quite lovely, and the water nice & warm. Beautiful landscaping around the pool area. The property is small but a veritable oasis. - A small but workable kitchen - The 2 restaurants, one just across and down from ‘Soleil’, the other just up the hill next door. - The 2 resident staff, Aye & Shuma do a good job, and someone from management who speaks English is always a WhatsApp text or call away. - Good wifi. - The 2 bedroom units have a much larger kitchen area, and a living room with more comfortable seating, as well as a second bathroom. If you can handle the difference in price and the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms, go for it.

GermanyThe location is pretty middle of nowhere. Luckily one can rent a motorbike at the next hotel, otherwise no options to get anywhere, even the next beach is barely accessible without bike.
Very nice aparts, big rooms, good furniture and bathroom. Internet connection is just good enough to work.

AustraliaNot so much things we didn't like as things to know... Water in the shower was never better than luke warm. Thankfully I took our Google Chrome cast because the only channel on the TV in English was a news program out of Singapore. The address doesn't show properly on Google maps so taxi drivers have difficulty finding it to pick you up. The place is on a reasonably steep hill so walking access is for the fit and healthy. The walk back from the closest 7/11 is strenuous. You are about 4.5 klms out of town so a hire car is really helpful.
Well appointed, comfortable apartment. Lovely pool area. Fair price. Good, attentive and helpful host.

United KingdomPool is tiny and gets zero sunshine on it. We used hardly any electric in our stay - air con on a tiny amount, no tv etc and it cost us an additional 900b. Location is up a steep hill and no direction beach access anymore means much better options are available
Apartment is ok, basic bits in kitchen

United KingdomTo pay on costs for electric.
Really good value for money, walk to main road and flag a bus to get to main parts of Samui. The manager takes entry and exit meter reading and the cost of electric is deducted at end of stay. Fantastic pool! Great apartment, food panda delivers here. Really lovely apartment and dedicated amazing staff. The lady and man on site are fantastic and super helpful.

South AfricaYou have to pay extra for electricity, which was not made very clear on booking.com. It says ' you pay extra for aircon', which is easy to overlook or misunderstand. Also, we found the furniture in the lounge very uncomfortable, and the two beds in the kids room were not particularly comfortable either. Be careful of the very hot water in the showers if you have small children, as it's hard to control the temperature.
Lovely staff, especially the sweet couple who take care of the property. Very nice , clean pool and beautiful gardens too. In walking distance to a nice beach too, however, we soon realised one needs a car or bikes to appreciate the island of Samui, especially with kids. The apartment is functional, with a kitchen and cooking facilities, which is good for families.

United Kingdomthe location is too far away from anything. had to get taxis everywhere. you couldn’t even walk anywhere local as it’s up a very dark long path which is scary enough at night without the added bonus of a bunch of wild dogs after you. never been as scared in my life. when we complained to the manager she said they go to attack her and she is on a bike. the manager of the restaurant next door said they provide their residents with a stick!!!! You also have to pay for electric which costs a lot more than they advertise.
