How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The staff, amazingly friendly and happy to engage with you, offer suggestions of places to go (not just excursions). Made me feel welcome from the very start. The location, very easy to get to most things walking. The cleanliness of the rooms and facilities, this is kept on top of throughout the day. This was my first ever time in a hostel and I liked it enough to extend my stay further.

The ladder of the bed cut my hand… the top is sharp don’t put you body weight on it
Clean. Staff helps you with everything. Bed is good. If you are alone go there and you will meet people to spend your time with

It s not best place for solotravellers, commun area os not that good so it s hard to meet people in hostel

The location was great, right in the centre of the old town. The hostel was extremely clean and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean with a comfy bed and air conditioning.

The AC in the 8-people bedroom was not enough to cool the room. It got very hot during the nights.
The location and the price is great. It's an amazing place to meet other travellers. A few nights one of the staff members, Mai I believe, gathered people to go to a pub. It is also easy to book trips with them.

great facility, good location, wonderful staff. we ended up extending our stay twice and the staff was always so helpful, checking on us, providing recommendations, and helping arrange tours and transportation. we also appreciated the filtered water and kitchen/fridge.

Perhaps it lacked like a cool chill out spot for socialising, not much else to complain about.
Great location in centre of old city. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and well air conditioned rooms which were comfy and offered a curtain for each bed which was a nice touch. The shared bathroom was also clean and pleasant. There was a well equipped kitchen and free drinking water. Great value for money.

Perfect location, right next to the Walking Street Market, cafes, restaurants and temples. The Bed was super comfy, the bunk had a curtain for privacy, and the bathrooms were always really clean. I booked an awesome trekking tour through them, and they stored my bags while I was away. While I was there I met a great group of people and everyone went out together one night. Good atmosphere without being a dirty party hostel. I extended my stay, and ended up returning after a trip to Pai. I know I'll be back, and I will be recommending this hostel to others. Special thanks to the owner for being so much help with everything from Visa paperwork, to restaurant recommendations!

The walls were a bit thin so sometimes you could vaguely hear other people, but this didn’t matter too much.

I love everything about this place. First of all, the kind owner Ploy who really helped me out. Secondly it's immaculately decorated, clean and tidy, with a sweet living room common area and fully furnished kitchen. But thirdly it's so fantastically located, in the real heart of the old city. I'd recommend this place to everyone.

What spoiled the experience was the reception lady trying to charge me to keep my bag there when i went to pai, i had already stayed there but apparently you have to stay after to not get charged (this was a real shame as the first lady who checked us in was lovely) after 30 minutes of debating she called her manager and begrudgingly waived the fee (which was never meant to be charged in the first place) this was my 3rd time in 2 months staying there where this was never an issue.
