Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe family room with bunk beds was too small. The kitchen is not included in the room, instead it is a shared kitchen for everyone.
Very helpful and friendly people. Very central location. Clean and safe place. Old wooden İstanbul house.

United StatesThis is a lovely space to stay in a great neighborhood. It’s quiet and peaceful but very close to the Kadikoy ferry and bus stations and all the bustle and fun that Kadikoy has to offer. The beds were also extremely comfortable.

United StatesLovely, cute, friendly clean hotel/ hostel with such an attentive host! I asked a million questions, and he was very prompt in responding and gave great advice! The place is in a quiet area and I didn't hear the call to the prayer in the morning. They gave me a list of restaurants to visit in the area and even helped with public transportation. The other guests knew that the sound travelled and they were very quiet. Also, the kitchen is great. Feels like a real home )

PakistanThe street from Kadikoy station to the hotel is a bit of a hike, but that's not specific to Tilas. There's no elevators, so accessibility would be an issue for some users.
The full-floor suite felt more like an apartment than a hotel room, esp with two balconies overlooking the street. Tilas has a very homely vibe, with the shared kitchen and laundry facilities, and it makes for a very comfortable stay. Emre, the manager, is super helpful and proactive, and messaged every morning to check if we needed anything, before, during and after the stay.

CanadaHighly recommend!! Stunning property, impeccably clean, charming decor, helpful staff. If I could give you one piece of advice about travelling to Istanbul it would be to stay here over the other overly-touristy areas of the city (Galata, Taksim, etc). There are so many wonderful options for restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, etc. (the owner Emre will kindly provide all the recommendations you need). With the metro, busses and ferries nearby you can easily get to anywhere you need to go.

KazakhstanThere is no soundproof, but it’s expected in the historic building and it’s fine.
My best experience in Istanbul boutique hotels for now! Absolutely loved the place!! So convenient and simple. We had a suite on the last floor of the house, it was super cozy, authentic and nice to see. Facility has everything for comfort stay: laundry, kitchen, balcony… Bed was comfortable, hosts were welcome. Liked the recommendation list in google, access by qr code

RussiaCan't remember any disadvantages.
The house was interesting and cosy, while the room clean and good looking. Quite interesting architecture. We were staying in 2-person room on the second floor. There are two of those: pink and green, we've chosen pink. The hosts were welcoming and supportive.

SloveniaAs this is a wooden house you can hear guests walking above you. But it didn’t bother us.
The house was recently renovated, very nice rooms although a bit smaller. It is located in a more quiet area of Kadikoy, but only 5-10 minutes walking distance to the center. The host was very kind and helpful.

BelgiumAbsolute delight from start to finish! We were greeted by Emre, who was exceptionally friendly and attentive. He went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, sending messages to see if we needed anything or had any questions. The location was perfect; Tilas is situated in a very safe and quiet street but in a bustling neighborhood with countless bars and restaurants. The port is a 5min walk away which makes going over to the European side really easy. The room itself was perfect, comfortable and cozy. We will be back!

GermanyThe hotel is located centrally in Kadiköy (Anatolian side) and you can reach everything afoot. Emre, the owner, is very caring and you should definitely plan in some time to have a coffee and a good chat with him. The rooms are on the small side, but if you are in Kadikoy and with such a nice host, you don't want to spend too much time on your room anyways.

NetherlandsWhen you check the room descriptions, the kitchen is described as "private kitchen". This might be misleading as there is one common kitchen in the property. The rooms are not cleaned throughout your stay.
As soon as you arrive this beautiful historical building, you feel like you are at home. Emre is absolutely a perfect host with his friendly and kind approach. He is always ready to help. The common kitchen area is great, it is fully equipped with all the kitchen utensils. I love the interior design of the common lounge area and rooms as well. The streets closeby the property are lined with chic cafes and many supermarkets. It is very close to the harbour as well. I stayed here with my 8-year old daughter and had no issues of safety in the area. This place has become our new home in Istanbul. Het was helemaal gezellig!

SwitzerlandThe street in reality I think is very safe, but again this is not even an air bnb on the Main pedestrianised street of a European city - this is close to the centre and along the backstreets of the Asian side of turkey - and so while it was safe, on first arriving there I was conscious of being careful.
It was very well taken care of, location was good and host was very responsive. Remember this is an air bnb not a hotel, so it is not a massive luxury bed and daily sheet changes, but everything was clean and functional and most importantly the host was available for anything needed.

GermanyThe rooms are really tiny, not much space to walk around or put luggage for two people around. If you like your place tidy, this can pose a challenge.
Tilas is located very centrally, yet on a rather calm street, offering easy access to public transport. The area is surrounded by a plenitude of hip cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is very kind, welcoming, and available for questions. They'll even let you know when there is fresh coffee or tea downstairs in the morning.

NorwayBecause this is a wooden house, there is some inevitable noise if other guests are not careful about quiet hours. The owner will make his best to keep the order, though. My bed was a little bit creaky (but I am sure the owner will have a look, and fix it).
Not much to add to the earlier comments. This is a really good, well maintained little hotel at a perfect location. The owner is very attentive to your needs, and does his best to keep you happy.

What a cosy hideaway in the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, and in the most beautiful building! Emre and Tugba will do whatever they can to make your stay as comfortable as ever, and you will feel very much at home with their graciousness. Little touches all down to the recommendations of restaurants and gorgeous artwork adorning the walls and windows… I would highly recommend staying here for a delightful stay, the location being nice and close to the train and trams for the city centre but also in walking distance from the lovely and happening Moda neighbourhood.
