How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The building was newly renovated so the furniture was brand new. The staff was warm and helpful. Both rooms and common areas were clean. The location is close to everything and safe. Would recommend!

The room lacked clothing hooks and towel hooks in the bathroom. Lack of seats in the room except for the bed. The toiletries provided – shower gel and shampoo specifically – are difficult to shower with. Bad location.
We had to book a hotel for a single night stay just a day before arriving. This was one of the cheapest available options, but the pictures looked much better than what's on offer for the same price. The interior of the lobby and rooms is freshly renovated and modernized. The room was clean, with air conditioning, TV a big bathroom. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, trying their best to accommodate our very early arrival time.

Please add some hangers in the bathrooms. There is no place to hang up and dry towels

You won't find a better accommodation for that price. Amazing location. People working there are incredible. Rooms are comfortable and clean.

There’s someone in the hotel who tried brake the door and get into our room. Yelled at us with swearing. We afraided to open the door after calling the reception and one person tried attack us when I opened the door. The admission didn’t let us to call the police and didn’t warn the other guest and tried to easy us. The only reason they claimed we talked louder but they would warn us or call the reception if so. They tried brake into the room and I felt really offended after seeing that situation. Me and my husband don't feel safe and It is extremely late to find other place. It ruined all of our day, travel and we really double lock the door and leave out tomorrow. they ruined our day and honeymoon travel and everything.

The area in which the hotel is situated is a slum . The hotel is surrounded by derelict buildings with broken windows and doors and walls ready to collapse . There is a dirty market very close and you do not feel safe going out after sunset . I would not recommand the hotel to families or women on their own . Very frightening and unsafe after dark . We used taxi to get back to the hotel and even the driver didn't feel comfortable bringing us in that area . No towels replaced during two days stay .
The hotel itself was small and cosy in huge contrast with the surroundings. The room given to us had had three beds . Two of them were comfortable but the mattress on the other one was very bad . The host very helpful . It is truth that is very close to the main thoroughfare ( that's why we choose it ) but the area outside is a big minus and the reviews are too good for what the hotel offer .

The Manager so disrespectful, when we mentioned about arrival time and double bed . When we arrived what I booked double room we’re not empty, even didn’t apologize for it . He even didn’t try to find solution and only offer solution rent one more room. So unresponsive.

Apartment is tiny, parts are falling off the bathroom door, noisy neighbourhood (even with closed windows). Also not very clean, there were stains on the sheet under the pillows
