Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyOur room, even though very comfy, was a little too dark since in a cave. The lights make a wonderful effect but aren't powerful enough.
Aydin is a great host. Always kind and smiling. He wants to do his best and make all guests feel good! The view is simply amazing and having breakfast surrounded by peace is something not common and fantastic! Breakfast is always plentiful and rich.

United KingdomA few things to note for those considering a stay: Heating: As you're staying in an original cave, the rooms are heated by electric fans. While they keep you warm, they can be a bit noisy at times. Location: The hotel is located on the quieter side of the castle, away from the crowds, which we enjoyed. However, it does require a short walk to reach the center of town. Despite these minor points, I can wholeheartedly say that the overall experience at this hotel was absolutely incredible. The warmth of the host, the uniqueness of the cave setting, and the delicious breakfast far outweighed any of these minor considerations.
If you're looking for a unique and memorable place to stay, I cannot recommend this cave hotel enough! My partner and I had the absolute pleasure of ringing in the New Year at this hotel and it was an experience we'll treasure forever. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly warm and welcoming. He went above and beyond to make our stay special. On New Year's Eve, he cooked us a dinner and invited us to a celebration party. The hotel itself is stunning. Our room was an original cave, and it was so cozy and comfortable. The room was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities we needed. The bed was incredibly comfy and the unique cave environment made for a peaceful night’s sleep. It was such an authentic and heartwarming experience. The breakfast was an absolute highlight! Freshly made every morning, there was a vast array of options, from local olives and cheeses. The portions were generous and the quality was fantastic. If you ever get the chance to visit this area, don't think twice about booking this cave hotel. The incredible hospitality, the unique ambiance, and the delicious food make it a true gem of a place. We will definitely be back!

Hong KongThe Road to the castle and the center was being dug up, not something anyone could do anything about and still walkable anyway
I rarely am so happy with a place! Ayden is fantastic and the place is magical. Ortahisar is touristy enough to have a few restaurants but still quiet, and retains its charm compared to goreme which feels a bit like disneyland even in low season. Great, massive breakfast and oh, it's a real cave. The view and the st nino chapel are a great bonus! Really, a wonderful place and manager

Maybe my favourite accommodation I've ever stayed in! Perfect view, incredible breakfast at flexible times, and the town is beautiful, but not as busy as Göreme so it's a lot calmer and nicer. And that's before the accommodation is attached to a medieval cave church. Rooms are really comfortable, and split between two it was actually cheaper than the youth hostel I stayed in on my own afterwards. Aydin is just the best, so helpful, a shoutout to Osman the cat too 🙏

AustraliaWe absolutely loved our stay at the cave hotel. The room was comfortable and the view from the terrace was awesome. The host, Aydin is very friendly and helpful. He organised a hot air balloon ride for us. Breakfast was the best, although we had ours during lunchtime as we like to start off early in the morning for a long hike and Aydin was flexible with the time. We had a car and there was no issue with parking (street parking) as the hotel is away from the main tourist towns, which was a bonus for us. We highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Everything was great. One of the best rooms I have stayed. The room was clean and comfortable. It was pleasant during the night, the cavernous type room kept cool during the warm nights in Cappadocia. Aydin was an amazing host, very flexible with the breakfast and the check-in check out. He also let us do our laundry without any extra charge. He provided very helpful recommendations and made for us the best breakfast and coffee we had in Turkey. The accommodation has an amazing view over the Ortahisar castle. Location wise it was very close by car to all the touristic destinations without being in the craziness of Goreme. We enjoyed it so much that we stayed and extra day. Highly recommended, I hope I get the chance to go back. If you visit don't forget to check the frescos that are in the church near the rooms.

JapanNothing, probably the fact that I couldn’t stay longer!
I’ve been to countless hostels/hostels but this one was by far the best. It was clean, beautiful, and luxurious…. It got everything what I expected. I love the fact that it was located in a small town where there’s not many tourists, and very chill and quiet compared to the place like Goreme. But what I loved the most was hospitality and kindness of the host, Ayden. He helped me with everything, and I’ve never met a host that amazing in my life. I think that’s the best part of staying here.

FranceThis is probably our best hotel experience ever. The location is unbelievable --- sharing a fairy chimney with an 11th century church, with a spectacular view of Ortahisar Castle. Aydin is an amazing host -- a fabulous breakfast spread, and he stayed up until 1am when our flight was delayed. He is super kind and accommodating, gave us tips for the area, and was incredibly hospitable. A truly amazing place!

South AfricaThe rooms are in caves and very well appointed, clean and luxurious. The bathroom is spacious and modern. All a kind of fantasy. Outside is a terrace with a beautiful view which can be shared. The owner is very friendly and is always around and very helpful. He served a great breakfast. This is based on very centrally to explore other points of interest, but you will need a car. Note - there is no wi-fi. We had a local sim card, so it wasn't really an issue.

FinlandNo real dislikes. Be prepared that there is no cell network service as soon as you close the room door.
Excellent breakfast, cave rooms with heating and ventilation, renovated bathroom, very helpful staff, a dog and a cat. 20 min walk to city center. There is a 12th century church in the backyard.

We enjoyed our stay in this privately owned cave hotel overlooking the historic center and the Ortahisar Castle. Aydin, the owner, was very hospitable and made us daily breakfasts, which were outstanding. On his property is the St. Nino's rock church which he upkeeps. He keeps the ancient cave church open to any visitor who is interested. The room we stayed in was as shown in the photos on Booking.com. The bathroom is huge and modern. This is a good location since it's close enough to all of the touristy points of interest, but is quiet and not overrun by touristy trappings. We would definitely stay here again when we come back. Note his new kitty, who kept us sweet company in the mornings at breakfast.
