Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The location is good, easy to find. The room is small but still good for short stay. Staff is very nice help us to get lines for 4 people stay.

AzerbaijanIt looks like there are a lot of people smoking in the rooms. You can feel that smell quite often. Poor internet (wi-fi) connection. Toilet paper was like a sandpaper :) There was no soap in the bathroom when I arrived. Bad smell from the refrigerator, they need to be stut off, defrosted abd cleaned from time to time.
Location is very good, you can walk easily to sea side, restaurants, Izmir park etc. Small but comfortable rooms. It would be good to have at least 1 small bedside table next to the bed but there was no space for it, at least in my room.

Manager is the soul of this place - he was helpful and showed us everything, helped getting around and discussed the earthquake experience with us. He has a great communication style and was very welcoming - which is very much appreciated when you happen to be in a completely unknown city / country. Location is great, near the central park along a quiet street. Room is clean, has all what's needed, including a kitchen, maybe a bit small. Depending on the room you'll be able to pet cats and feed them through the window ))

Amazing personnel! Waited for us till the late evening, showed everything and gave a discount for the room upgrade the next day. Great location near the seaside. Around there are a lot of places where stuff speaks english, places to work remotely and small grocery stores. Great room with small kitchen and washing machine. Nice view, very quiet place. p.s. pay attention, that check-in normally closes at 18:30, so it’s better to warn the owner in advance.

South AfricaThe WIFI was not so good; the signal was not constant, weak and you cannot use the connection for video calls. Take your own MiFi dongle with.
It was a mission to find the location as a traveler, but I had some help with directions. The bed was spacious, as well as the bathroom; I enjoyed the couch in the living space and a small kitchen to prepare food. The apartment had a flat screen TV with only Turkish channels; the aircon was working and that was nice as the weather was very hot. The kitchen had a microwave, bar fridge, stove, and various utensils for the preparation of food; there is also a washing machine and dishwasher. The elevator was also working as I was staying on the third floor. The apartment was cleaned at regular intervals; the owner would contact me with a message to arrange this. There are shops about 200 m away from the apartment, where I could buy fruit, vegetables, bread, and fast food. You can walk to culture park and walk through the park from the east gate to the west gate and find a Tram station there. Otherwise, you can get a taxi easily in front of the culture park entrance.

MaltaWhen I arrived at the property late in the evening (around 9:30 PM), reception staff told me that the hotel was fully booked. However they had confirmed my reservation and I had been messaging them and at no point they said anything. They took me to another property, which was not as nice and more expensive. The excuse was that there was a large Turkish holiday going on, but I know that people don't stay in that city for said holiday. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Why was I not told at any point that the hotel was full? They can easily message me in booking.com app. Why only at check in? Well, I have been traveling for 8 years now and this is not my first rodeo. Advertise a nice hotel, then when a weary traveler arrives late at night, shove them into a worse one which is more expensive. Classic. I was forced to freeze my credit card in fear of getting charged by this property as well and the staff had not responded to booking.com staff regarding this issue. Considering that they have been unwilling to resolve the issue, only possible conclusion I can make that this is a hotel "bait & switch" scam. To hotel staff: please answer to booking.com requests on the matter. If this is a genuine error, then take responsibility of it and let them know you messed up. If I get contacted by booking.com that you have owned up on this, I can consider upgrading my review.
