Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSpa was okay, but not great. My sister and I booked the Traditional Turkish Bath. Bathing/massage area was a bit chilly and located in a small, dark, underground ancient "cavern" room. There wasn't a traditional heated marble slab or platform. In fact, my sister had her bath on a regular massage table. We were really expecting a traditional Turkish Bath (which we've had several times) with the steamy bathing area, warm marble platforms, deep massage, etc.. Unfortunately, the experience was a very watered down version of a true Turkish Bath. It was expensive as well. We really expected more from this caliber of hotel.
Where do I start? First of all, we arranged transfer from the airport to Istanbul through the hotel. Cars are not allowed where the hotel is located, but a staff member will greet you and take you to the hotel via golf cart. Which kind of makes you feel like a VIP! Location couldn't better -- literally between the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated and furnished with wonderful vibrant colors, Turkish motifs, and comfortable seating. We were a family of four and originally booked a Jr. Suite and Superior King. However, we were pleasantly surprised and excited to find out that they upgraded both rooms to a Hagia Sophia Suite and a Jr. Suite! Yay! Both rooms were just stunning. Our rooms were located in the Green House (main reception building). The other part of the property is located on the street between the Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace (about a 5 minute walk from reception). The spa is also located there. A very abundant Turkish breakfast is served in the leafy and shaded garden in back of the hotel. Our suites were immaculately maintained by Hatice, our housekeeper. She would even leave us delightful "towel art" on our beds each day! The hospitality and professionalism of the waitstaff was stellar. Dogukan (chef), Banyar, Nozima, Tarik, Halperen, and Caner really helped to make our experience at the hotel first rate. We did use the spa for a traditional Turkish bath. Loved the indoor pool that was originally an ancient cistern! We had private use of the pool for 40 minutes prior to our Turkish Bath. Overall, we loved our stay at the Hagia Sofia Mansions, and would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend!

NorwayThe restaurant were not as good as they should be!
The location was perfect. Right beside the Topkapi palace, as a matter of fact part of it. And two meters from Hagia Sofia. The golfcart that was provided for transporting guests in the nearby areas. The staff!! Everything was perfect.

HungaryIt is a marginal issue only, but information could be made clearer that the transport will not be able to make it directly to the hotel, and guests need to change to an electric car. That said, we enjoyed the ride with it.
Amazing hotel, perfectly located, literally 3-5 minutes from all the major attractions. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The concierge, Cecile was excellent, she was extremely helpful in providing information and booking a table in a restaurant. The hotel comprises smaller buildings, and the green building, where we stayed, had its own cozy garden and restaurant. We loved the cocktails and the food there. We got an upgrade on arrival, so the room exceeded our expectations.

We liked that it was not a classic hotel structure and we really enjoyed the garden and mansions structure, it did not feel like we were in the city but we were very close to most of Istanbul sites to visit. The staff was extremely kind, especially at breakfast where Nasima always remembered gluten free cake and bread. We really enjoyed our stay!

Town walls & towers. Food is wonderful, and breakfast in the Greenhouse is the best. Staff are very helpful & kind. Simply an outstanding hotel. Very clean, housekeeping staff very efficient. The concierge service was excellent. The hotel is spread around Hagia Sofia with buggy carts to take you end to end.

I must say, the service was exceptional. My flight was scheduled for 2 am, and the hotel kindly allowed me to leave my luggage with them after checkout. Moreover, they graciously permitted me to use the spa facilities for a refreshing shower before my departure. This level of hospitality truly exceeded my expectations. I will undoubtedly choose to stay at this hotel again in the future and will enthusiastically recommend it to my friends. Thank you, Hagia Sophia Mansion, for a fantastic stay!

United KingdomWe did not have breakfast due to our schedule. The hotel rooms were excellent and located on a pedestrian street in a very nice area behind Hagia Sophia mosque. The hotel has 2 x receptions which are convenient when getting around and the staff were excellent. Electric buggies, driven by the hotel staff are available and very convenient for the cases.

United KingdomWhile we loved the room itself and the view of the mosque/parrots in the tree/street, the trams running every 2 minutes woke us up very early, on the positive side, this got us up and exploring much earlier that we would have done otherwise.
Great base to explore Istanbul from, being just round the corner from the main sites, it made it easy to beat the crowds in the morning, and enjoy the area without tourists in the evening. The courtyard near reception is a lovely refuge for a break during the day/in the evening. Both buffet and order-from-menu breakfasts were great, and we also enjoyed dinner at the greenhouse restaurant one night. I booked the cistern spa for one evening and it was fantastic and even healed my foot that I had twisted on the cobbles during the day! Wonderful staff - particularly enjoyed being sent off with water when leaving the hotel. Would definitely love to stay again when back in Istanbul.

Saudi ArabiaReaching the hotel by car will be a challenge given the area restrictions. Given the buildings’ age there might be an issue for those needing elevators or noise isolation
Fantastic location in the middle of Sultanahmet area, with historical locations a couple of minutes away on foot. Very unique setup where the hotel is distributed between 17 different buildings (most are right next to Topkapi walls). Got our room upgraded for free (quite spacious). Very supportive and cheerful staff
