Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe room (3 beds) had no space for the two of us to open up our big suitcases. Some of our room windows faced the common sitting area and could not be locked, so we made sure to bring all our important belongings out with us. The common sitting area felt dusty. The stairs were also a bit tight and we had some trouble manoeuvring our suitcases up and down the stairs. The toilet/bathroom could do with hooks for towels and clothes. Black-out curtains and a mini fridge would have been great too. We were aware from other reviews that the room did not have tea and coffee-making facilities (i.e. an electric kettle), but it would have been good if a common hot water facility could have been provided at the breakfast area.
The location was fantastic - near the town centre and bus station/train stop as well as the in-town attractions like the museum and the castle and basilica, but on a quiet street. There is a Sok supermarket nearby where one can buy bottled water and other necessities. The catch however is that one has to walk up a steep slope to get to the pansiyon - best to have backpacks rather than heavy wheeled luggage. The room and toilet/bathroom were clean enough, and the shower had good pressure and hot water. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very decent; coffee seemed to be brewed rather than Nescafe! Excellent views from the terrace which has tables and benches for chilling out.

CanadaI did not have hot water in the morning, unfortunately. I had hot water in the previous afternoon however, not sure what happened. No credit card is accepted, so don't forget to have cash with you to pay for the stay. There are plenty of atm's just a couple of minutes from the hotel so it's not a big problem.
Lovely small hotel (5 or 6 rooms, maybe?), I assume it used to be a house, and it was converted into a hotel. The decor of the rooms is very traditional, makes you feel you're visiting Turkey 100 years ago! Yet everything is super clean and taken care of. The bed was firm but comfortable, and the wifi worked great! The hotel is located in the old part of town, with its tight cobbled streets, old houses and mosques, very quiet (woke up to the sound of birds) and very quiant. Feels like you're staying in a small village while you're there. The hotel is, however, only a 5 or 6 minute walk to the busier, main part of town with all the shops, bars, stores, and restaurants. It was a 10 minute walk from the train station so it's very convenient; the museum and the bus stations are very close too. The view from the terrace is lovely too! Breakfast is included, I had a boiled egg, salad, bread, cheese, and tea. It's plenty and more than enough to get your day started ! I paid 200 liras to get to Ephesus in taxi (may 2024, prices change quickly due to inflation).

All. This house run by a very sweet Turkish family that you will feel at home when staying here. The room was lovely and beautiful. The breakfast was tasty and served beautifully. The host, Saziye and Dervise were so nice and helpful. It’s so easy to communicate with them and they are always ready to help you if you need them. The location is also near to some cute resto and coffee shops, and Ephesus museum. I really recommend this place whenever you are in Selcuk.

BrazilLots of stairs (not for people with disabilities).
The hotel has a very unique turkish decor with some antique furniture (not for everyone, but I liked it). This puts you in a bit of a exotic atmosphere (which I think is desirable when travelling in Turkey). The breakfast was one of the best experiences I had in the whole country. Not a buffet, a beautiful table of assorted dishes is served. The manager and his wife are extremely kind and friendly to everyone. They are perfect hosts.

United StatesNone.
The staff and the owner are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good with real materials, like good olive oil, pomegranate jam. Close to St. John Basilica and Ephesus archeology museum, is about 3-5 minutes walk. Close to Selcuk train station, 5 minutes walk. Bus stop is about 5-7 minutes walk, to other cities. About 3.5 km to Efes ruin, I walked there. I suggest to if drive to Efes ruin, do it before 7am to get parking space, and wait there to open at 8am. Driving to Efes ruin is not recommended after 8am, No parking space, the line will last at least 1km to wait for parking space, unless you're in bus tour. Walk 3 mimutes, lots of cafe and markets. You can eat or buy grocery. The room is very traditional , old, cozy, quiet, clean and comfortable. If You want to buy any staff, owner will suggest to go to real materials and more honest store with reasonable price, but you still judge yourself. Don't overpay what you like to buy, just go around and check out the price, and negotiate the deal. If no hot water, just ask owner everything, he will improve the facility the same day.

As many of the other reviews note, Homerus Pension is a fabulous place to stay and everything about it makes for a totally wonderful time here. It is ideally located for public transport, seeing the castle and basilica, and wandering through the tiwn. The owners are extremely pleasant, the breakfast is tasty and it has great views from the rooftop. If I ever find myself back in Selcuk, this is where I'd choose to stay.

SingaporeThe pension is at an excellent location, conveniently situated near the bus station, restaurants, and cafes. The breakfast was outstanding, served by delightful hosts. The serene surroundings are perfect for leisurely walks, and the place's strategic positioning allows easy access to transportation options for Ephesus and Şirince, via taxis and dolmuş. The pension features beautifully furnished rooms adorned with unique antiques, making for a charming stay. Furthermore, the hosts surprised us by being kind enough to wash our toddler's feeding bottles.
