We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomIn the middle of the night we were woken up by the disgusting smell of sewage. It lasted the whole night into the morning. We were told that the smell is because Izmir smells - though we were on the fifth floor and the window was shut so not sure how the smell from the gulf could reach us. Plus there was no smell before and seemed to come from the AC unit somehow. Anyway - I'm sure there is a solution and it is unacceptable to just say yeah the city stinks. Couldn't sleep at all as the smell was so strong. Also it says it is a 4 star hotel, although I'm not sure how as I don't think their facilities are of a 4 star hotel.

AzerbaijanPoor breakfast, there is no juice or sweets at all. Just few type of cheese, sausage, boiled eggs, absolutely tasteless olives and some vegetables alongside tea/or water from dispenser. Awful lightning in room and hallways. They provide us with the worse possible room as I understand because we booked from Booking.com not from local travel agency or directly. I'm sure they won't give any attention to this comment they already have good business from local partners.

MalaysiaEverything was just horrible. Initially they mix up the booking and put me in two rooms instead of one. I have to argue with them (and they basically don't know English, at all.) Finally, they give me a suite (which is what I booked) but clearly, it was a suite room they don't use, so it was dirty, and the wallpaper was peeled off on one side. The carpet is utterly disgusting, that we couldn't walk barefoot inside the room. No proper car parking so you have entrust your car to their staff. The Wi-Fi password they gave didn't work. Their credit card machine didn't work either (sigh). Early in the morning of the day of our check-out I get surprised when one of their maintenance staff just opens the room door and walks in, then he rushes out when he realises someone is inside. I quickly went to confront him and he vaguely explains in sign language (as I said they all don't know English) that he wanted to change the shower head. So either he is lying or this room was not meant to be having a guest in it. Avoid this hotel at all costs, unless you want to get grossed out for life.

AustraliaRoom was small. Window was dirty. There wasn't shower base, we had to have our shower in the bathtub, we had to climb the bathtub, which is very dangerous especially for old people. Breakfast was very poor. There wasn't even a toaster to toaste bread.
