Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TurkeyIn the mornings, they serve very nice coffee and tea, along with pastries and muffins. It was all great. Everyone was very friendly. The location is very central, I walked around with my friends all day and it was very safe to walk the streets alone at night. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. Everyone treated us like family. Thank you very much everyone for this experience.

United StatesNo elevator: This was not a problem for us, and they helped with our luggage.
We spent 2 nights at Kidalyo Hotel in Ayvalik in early October 2023. Kidalyo Hotel is a tastefully restored historic stone house with 8 rooms. It was perfect for us. The owner and his staff were lovely, welcoming and pleasant. Our double room with a sea view was simple and charming. Tall windows and doors, wood floors, white walls. There is a one-story stone building between the hotel & the sea; our large window looked out over it to the sea. Beautiful, peaceful view. Good, modern, bathroom. Closet and wall hooks. Small refrigerator. Although breakfast was not included, the coffee or tea plus pastries that they offered us each morning was more than adequate to get our day started. Easy walk to the waterfront, restaurants, and shops. A perfect place to refresh and relax after the insanity of Istanbul!

GermanyNothing really. It was a wonderful stay. Thanks again for everything.
The property is quite central. The owner and the receptionist were quite friendly and welcoming. They made sure I enjoyed my holiday with some nice recommendations. There was tea and coffee with nice snacks available at the reception. The building was historical but very neatly renovated. The rooms had nice character. The air conditioning was functioning.

Our host Hakan was amazing! So hospitable and friendly! The accomodations were very comfortable in a beautifully restored character building with sea views and sea breezes. Location was fabulous and close to shops, cafes, port and car park a few mins away. Good Turkish coffee! Good suggestions for places to eat and places to see

SpainOur room had a slightly awkward elongated shape and was a little small for a 4-day stay. Other rooms we saw were more spacious, but unfortunately not available on the day we arrived.
The Kidalyo hotel is a beautifully and tastefully renovated old house in the old quarter of town. The staff spoke good English and were very friendly and helpful, offering suggestion about place to go and restaurants to eat at.

AustraliaThis didn’t both us but might be an issue for others: the rooms were accessible only by stairs (would be difficult for people with mobility issues), and the shower was extremely small (might be difficult for some people).
Beautiful property, a grand old home overlooking the sea. Check in was simple, the room was up two flights of stairs but the hotel owner brought up our bags. They were proactive and thought to arrange things for us before we even asked for them (ie transport to our ferry the following morning). They even packed a breakfast for us to take on the ferry.

South AfricaThe hotel is absolutely breathtaking, beautifully finished and decorated. The hosts are exceptionally kind, helpful, and attentive! They offered us Turkish tea & Turkish coffee any time we returned and sat in the courtyard and offered wonderful recommendations for where to go and where to eat. The hotel is located in a good area and many restaurants and cafes are accessibly by foot.

NetherlandsWhile Kidalyo Hotel had many delightful attributes, I did find our room to be on the smaller side. For short stays, it's perfectly cozy, but for travelers planning an extended visit, it might feel a tad confined after 1-2 nights.
The moment we stepped into Kidalyo Hotel, a wave of comfort and familiarity greeted us, heightened by the delightful welcome of freshly brewed coffee. Its location is just a brief stroll away from the sea, city center, and an array of restaurants and bars. This makes it an ideal spot for both relaxation and exploration. The mornings here are a treat in themselves. Waking up to the aroma of tea and coffee, accompanied by freshly baked pastries, set the tone for perfect days ahead. For anyone looking for a blend of coastal beauty, urban convenience, and the warmth of home in Ayvalik, Kidalyo Hotel is the destination.
