Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The rooms were clean, location was perfect, and the staff were amazing! They were so friendly, helpful, and always going that extra mile! Also the 2 mascots Uzum and Gofret (Pomeranian dogs) were a joy to be greeted by every morning at breakfast! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone! Cannot wait to come back to istanbul and stay here again! Thank you to all Marione staff for a great experience!

BelarusThe main reason for a bad review is the situation with my friend that were supposed to visit me in my room. The hotel staff told me that all visitors no matter of the time they will stay in my room will need to pay 250 TLR (~25 EUR) as if they were "guests" who stay in the room. Originally I thought that the problem was with the front desk staff and asked them to call their manager to clarify the situation, since I have never faced with such situation in any country, and I don't know what the hotel staff told their manager in turkish before passing the phone to me, however the manager told me the same thing as they did: no matter how many minutes someone will be visiting me, I have to pay 250 TLR for that. That was never mentioned in hotel policies and was never clarified to me clearly before booking or before checking in. Even though, originally staff were friendly and tried to help me, that situation ruined all good experience with that hotel. However, to spice things up, in my first night at this hotel, there also was a problem. I asked for the quiet room, and the girl at the front desk ensured me that she chose the finest and really quiet room. In my room there was one more door, leading to another the room. The door was closed of course, however late at the evening someone came to that room, they started watching a TV, speaking to each other, having sex, obviously, and all that was clearly heard from my room. Unfortunately, they finished late and then got up early, so my sleep was quite short and disturbing. When I told about that to the hotel staff in the morning, they were surprised as if they had not known that the rooms were connected and that might have been the case.
Location was good. The massage and spa were good as well.

PakistanHotel Morione was an extremely comfortable stay! The close proximity of the hotel to the T1 tram station and the Karakoy pier made access to everywhere quite easy. A big thank you to Sevim, the hotel manager for being extremely kind, accommodative and helpful! She not only upgraded our room but also gave us brilliant dining recommendations and suggested the perfect place for celebrating a birthday! It was lovely to make her acquaintance! I'd also like to give a kudos to Yaren at reception who was very helpful and gracious throughout our stay. As a whole our experience at Morione was brilliant and apart from the wonderful hotel location and facilities, Sevim in particular gets credit for being an incredible manager and an outstanding host! Thank you for the perfect stay!

I’m an avid traveler and I’ve been to more than 60 countries in the world and I can easily say that it was one of the worst experiences in my life. one day I came back to the hotel and all of my personal items were not there anymore. we soon find out that the cleaning lady and the supervisor moved all of my stuff in order to record a video of my room without my consent! they deliberately touched my personal stuff ( bra, underwear and medicines), open my luggage and put everything inside of it. also I couldn’t find my passport since the lady put it in a closet and I had to spend two hours looking for my items ( I’m not sure I found everything) , I called the receptionist and all he could say was: you are right, calm down, I offer a glass of wine. they didn’t anything for me as a guest. also, nobody wear masks down there and they literally touched my personal inhaler ( and they broke it). I’m so mad at them and I was feeling violated, disrespected and helpless, I am a girl and I was travelling solo. literally the worst experience ever
