Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe biggest earthquake in 25 years on our first morning put a bit of a dampner on the trip. Having said that, of course, I don't blame the hotel for this, and indeed, one member of the restaurant staff directed us out into the street where it was safe.
Nice breakfast selection, but could have a little more choice, how about some pancakes, for example? I chose this hotel because the breakfast was included in the room price. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet for Taipei, which can be noisy. We were able to leave our luggage on the last day.

PhilippinesThere's a bad smell in the bathroom. It's like coming from the sewage. But not too strong. There's mosquitos at the lobby. Elderly people having a difficult time going to breakfast area located at B1 using the stairs because there is no elevator.
Location is 2min walk to MRT station. Express check in. The bathroom is big. The room is spacious. Having 2 full body massage chairs and a foot massager at the lobby made the difference. You can use it for free 24/7. Breakfast buffet was good.

JapanThe tub in the bathroom is dangerously high to step-over to get in or out of it of. Definitely hold on to that handrail to the side tightly. The rainfall showerhead is a little too low for 182cm high person, but the detachable 2nd showerhead was adequate for getting clean.
The breakfast was really good and the buffet allowed me to customize my meal for my dietary needs. The bed was fairly comfortable and good enough for one night. The amenities in the hotel were great. I highly recommend washing a load of laundry and then going to the lobby and starting a 30 minute session in one of the massage chairs. Just be wary that the heat-pump dryer may take up to 2 hours to dry on the automatic setting. Free coffee anytime in the lobby is a nice perk as well. I did end up forgetting a face towel in my room, but the cleaning staff found it and immediately notified me by one of the staff before leaving the hotel.

United StatesHaving to walk down a flight of stairs to the breakfast room. I have foot and back issues so it was a little difficult, but not a deal breaker. Something to be aware of if you have mobility issues.
First off, the staff was very attentive. My flight from Chicago was cancelled so I had to travel the next day and one of the staff members, Kichi, messaged me a few time and even called me once I arrived in Taiwan to make sure I was okay and asked if I needed any help. In person, he was soooo sweet and attentive. The reception staff were EXTREMELY helpful and kind. The lobby area has a table set up for work and free hot coffee and iced tea are available. I was able to check out and then grab some lunch and just hang out in the lobby until it was time to catch my train. The receptionist even offered to call a taxi for me, but I said I had Uber and was okay. The breakfast is served from 7am to 10am so you have PLENTY of time to eat and can sleep in if you like. Often hotels end breakfast at 9am, and when travelling, sleeping in an extra hour can be priceless!!
