Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe view is a joke - the hotel should rename itself. The price isn't justified in my opinion- the hotel isn't located super well. The older part of the hotel looked like a hotel from the 70ies
We had a room in the new part of the hotel which was quite nice. Big room, very nice bathroom including bathtub. Staff super friendly.

The place was really nice, I’ll consider it for my next travel. Highly recommended! Although,no breakfast is available. But you can walk around to find some good food to eat.

ItalyThe balcony area was a bit dirty, I would have appreciated some cleaning there. The desk area is quite dark at night, the light is too small.
Nice staff. They had to cancel the last two days of my stay because they became a quarantine hotel, but they refunded the the two nights without extra costs and suggested an hotel nearby for those days.

United StatesI did not like the fact that booking.com or the property itself advertises a picture with a city view, charges you city-view upgraded price and then sticks you on the second floor with the view of an alley. Really. And then they conveniently blame each other and neither takes accountability. See the picture of the view of my room vs. the website ad.
It wasn’t really the Riverview Suites that was a problem. It was booking.com or so says the Riverview. I booked on booking what was described and pictured as a city view. See pictures. So either Riverview sold out and didn’t notify booking.com or booking just doesn’t care. Either way, there was no oversight and I was given a room that faced an alley and a tree with the “balcony” being inside the room. I’ve never heard of such a thing. I was also placed on the second floor. Neither the hotel would help and booking.com takes the money and runs as a matter of course, so if you book here, be advised that you may get an awful room. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was decent with a to-die for view. The language barrier (my fault for not speaking Chinese—it’s their country) prevented me from really being able to solve my problems.

MacaoFirst of all, the cleanness of the room is the biggest disappointment. The room is dirty. Human long hair everywhere. The edge of the bathtub is full of mold. There’s blood stains on the curtain. The surface of the table is molded and full of inerasable stain. The price I booked this room is not cheap. I would say it doesn’t worth at all.
There’s nothing I’m satisfied with.

United StatesFull buffet Chinese breakfast - normal Taiwan fruits- pineapple, watermelon, grava; rice congee & fun toppings - peanuts, tofus; plain & Cantonese buns; steamed egg, Chinese meats (which I passed on); rice, miso soup, minced pork rice topping (which I thought was soup at first), curry with diced veg for rice; juices, latte machine (super strong espresso); bread, toaster. Breakfast turned out to be a must to stay healthy and normal in the Taiwan summer heat since even after 8 days we couldn’t get used to time change and the idea of having to go out to eat for lunch & dinner. What a blessing to invite the rest of our family and their church youth group who was staying a block away - regular fee is $350 NT for breakfast. The banquet room was very clean and did not draw my attention to dirty walls/floors at all like I naturally do while in the states.! I found Taipei & Hsinchu ( 2 places I went to) to be cleaner than the US.

Australianothing, was fantastic. even though its facing a highway its super convenient in terms of location to ximending.
Staff were amazing - i thought i had booked online but i actually screwed up and didn't book it properly (i must've not clicked submit properly). In either case i was a little stressed out being in a new city, but the counter staff were amazing and helped me secure a room promptly for the same price I was supposed to book it for! Props to the staff here, this will be my home in Taipei next time I visit. 感谢你们!你们很棒
