The food was very good, but the variety at the dinner buffet can be improved. The pool was clean, but some of the tiles should be maintained/replaced soon.

The friendliness of the staff. The rooms were very spacious. All staff were welcoming and professional. The stretch of beach was beautiful. I believe it’s one of the best beaches on the island.

There was some construction next to the resort which was a bit disturbing. The WiFi wasn't great and was down for a day or so. The bathtub wasn't functioning 100% and there was a noise coming from the A/C while it was on. The coffee wasn't good at all!

The resort was a fantastic experience. All staff were friendly and welcoming and very helpful. The beach and pool area is amazing and our room was spacious and had an amazing shower! There was lots of variety in the food and each dinner had a different theme. It was a nice stay and definitely recommend Gold Zanzibar Beach House and Spa.

Everything was great.

Tuan the General Manager was an excellent host. Very professional, engaging and nothing was too much trouble. He went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Ruwa the F&B manager, and Peter were also very professional and catered to our needs. We were served daily by Hadija in the Kilimanjaro restaurant, who had the biggest smile and gave great service. We were upgraded to a beach suite so literally stepped outside onto the beautiful white sands. The hotel is a little older than prior ones I’ve stayed in Zanzibar so looks a little tired in places but has everything in the rooms you need. Service was sometimes a little slow when on the beach on an afternoon but compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in Zanzibar it was on the whole really good. There was entertainment every night with mixed quality of the singing but the dancers at the Friday night outdoor bbq were awesome. There is a good selection of food available with lots of meat, fish and salads. My daughter is a vegetarian, so no meat or fish, and doesn’t really eat any carbs so is a chefs nightmare but Chef Sunil was very accommodating and offered to cook her alternatives. Occasionally some of the food in the buffet was a little cold but plenty of live cooking stations to make up for it.

Service could have been better, it’s a bit slow, but I think that’s everywhere in Zanzibar, they’re very laid back, also I didn’t understand how room service isn’t 24 hours, at 11:00pm there was nothing to eat or order.

The resort is just beautiful, only it’s too calm, it’s best if you’re looking for a total relaxation, rooms are very nice and well designed, very spacious and clean, food at the breakfast and dinner was very good with a wide variety, drinks were good too, however cocktails were expensive, staff was very friendly and attentive, also the spa is very good and massage was excellent

If I was looking for one point of constructive criticism it would be that the standard of the dessert did not match the rest of the meal

Stayed 5 nights at the resort. Everything was excellent from the location, beach, pool to the room, food and service from the staff. Meals were a la carte (as I believe no buffet due to covid/small number of guests), and everything served to us was exceptional. Staff always available to help with anything and attentive to all needs and requests, and always friendly.

this is no 5 stars , NO WAY! this is sold as a 5 stars SCAM. what a waist of money! very outdated hotel, rooms are below 4 star hotels I have visited. however; I have never encountered so many unprofessional & poorly trained staff at one place. the receptionists were a disaster at the check in. they made us feel like aliens because our cards didn’t worked while they worked everywhere else. an awkward silence and lot of awkward stare they sure don’t have the skills to make a client feel well received at these kind of situations. we had to suggest ourselves to go have dinner since we came there from a long drive and was 30 min before dinner ends. which they looked at eachother to agree. Mr Jackson at reception is terrible at communication and comes off as rude. when finally released to have dinner we had one plate of food them turned around to see them already packing 10min before time and before asking if we were finished, matter fact I had to explain to the waitress that my soup was cold and that’s why I wanted it warmer, I was waiting for it to bring it but she forgot since she was too busy focused to end her shift. A nice location can be an add to a stay but to abuse it for bad service, money hungry management and badly trained staff NO. we will NOT be coming back. thank god

The rooms are very odd, and although the bed was comfortable enough, the layout was strange and dysfunctional. The gym is really poor. Hotels that cost this much in closed season should invest in a proper gym. It is hardly surprising they have very few pictures of it on their website. The price of drinks is scandalous. Don’t bother. Walk 100m on the beach to the hotel next door where you can buy drinks at an almost reasonable price.

Good pool. That’s about it.

they asked me to pay extra for one person even though the big villa i booked had 2 rooms and accommodated from 2-4 people and we were 3. the gold restaurant food was REALLY bad. the kalimanjaro hotel was nice, not bad food. the pool service was slow, we waited 40 mins for 2 pineapple juices. we found a huge spider web under the sink. overall, the stay wasn’t worth the money we paid at all.

The tech in the room the TV cut off alot it wasn't a TV that should be placed in such a nice room it ruined the whole experience, they were cheap and didn't work so well
