Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Saudi ArabiaThat I had to leave.
The room next to the pool was spacious and clean with anti-mosquito curtains and a mini-fridge. The food is delicious. It felt like a home cooked meal. The Italian cuisine by the Italian chef is sublime. The resort vibes were so homie and friendly. All the staff were so welcomig.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing at all. We loved the setting, the wonderful staff, and the excellent food.
We loved our stay from the very beginning to the last moment. We arrived after climbing Kilimanjaro and so were looking for rest, relaxation, excellent food, a great beach, and wonderful service. We could not rate Kiwengwa beach highly enough for the attentiveness of the staff, the incredible food courtesy of a very talented Italian chef, and the relaxed beach bar. The honeymoon arch made out of fresh flowers was a particular favourite!

AustriaI really liked the apartment, it was super cosy and pretty. And it was very relaxing to stay at the swimming pool. Also the beach is beautiful, however there is a huge difference between low and high tight. But during low tight you can walk out the very long foodbrigde to the restaurant and swim from there. So perfect location. Also the food, Italian food is super delicious. And everyone was very helpful, we received everything we asked for, that was really kind. Thank you and all the best

United KingdomOur bungalows were described as "sea view" however they were located quite far from the sea and "sea glimpse through the bushes" might have been more accurate. Also there was no working wifi in the rooms. Finally, the taps and shower in our room scalded us the water was so hot (boiling temperature) with no signs to warn us. This could be very dangerous for children. The rooms were very sparse with holes in mosquito nets covering windows.
A well located, family-vibe resort popular with Italians, with its own beautiful private beach and beach bar serving delicious pizzas and cocktails. There were a generous amount of comfortable beach loungers with shade and shielding from constant beach selling. Breakfasts were delicious if standard and modest for Zanzibar. Food was generally very good.

United KingdomThis is a gem of a place! Great location, beautiful grounds, feels like a private little oasis. Authentic bungalows, ours had a view of the sea and the beach garden. Loved waking up there every morning. Staff so lovely and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. We felt very at home here. Excellent restaurant too! Thanks Domenico and your fabulous team. PolandCons: rooms are a bit sparsely furnitured/decorated and not that cosy, the hotel is not directly at the beach, you need to walk like 150m (I didn't mind), no real self catering options.
Pros: localisation: a step away from big hotels hustle, private beach place and lounges; italian restaurant (good for italian food, for regional things/seafood go somewhere else); calm place (10-15 rooms, no more), private pool, adjacent to watersports centre. Good for families with kids.

Czech RepublicThere is no “minus” at this place!
Everything was just PERFECT! We traveled with our 2 years old so it was a great advantage to have the whole spacious bungalow for us (and not just some tiny hotel room). The pool is perfect for a family with such a little kiddo as it is divided to two parts - in one there is just a water lower than knees so great for a toddler. Domenico (the owner) is great as a person and also a great chef. He prepares whatever you need for you - for breakfast and also during the rest of the day. The beach is private and yes - you cannot really swim in the ocean in the eastern part of Zanzibar. No big deal for us - the accommodation is close to the beach in the calm area. Anyway, it is nice walk on the beach to see all the locals who try to sell you anything on this planet. :) We also walked to the other resorts, you can swim in theirs pools if you buy something (a drink or food). Also can use other resorts restaurants and services if wanted. If you are a family with a toddler or small kids, this is must have place to stay for you! :) Highly recommended!! PS: We also went to Kendwa to check the place and we decided to stay here in Kiwengwa. Kendwa is (from my personal view) for younger people who like to party. And it is also super super crowded! No relax vacation vibe or feeling. We believe that it is better to stay in Kiwengwa if you are a family with a little kid.

SwedenProperty is well, sunbeds just at the beach were so peaceful. Swimming on the Kiwengwa beach depends a lot on the tide.
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here. The resort facilities were good and clean, and the pool a nice laguna for midday. Also, the staff like Nginaeli, Selma and Melanie were sweet and always so helpful. And Domenico took great interest in preparing delicious dishes from the best morning pancakes ever, to amazing seafood spaghetti, and homemade ginger/pumpkin ravioli. We celebrated a special New Year there, with fun Masai ceremonies. Our room was one of the beach bungalows with a very nice patio and an easy walk to the beach. Room was big and had a nice shower! Thank you for all the care.
