Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyNothing wrong with the place that is within the staff's ability to control. On one side of the building the midday sun can get quite warm. A refrigerator in the room would be nice, but not expected, so ok.
Comfortable hotel, classic decor, friendly staff, a bit hidden away but a very good location once you understand it. Will stay there again next time in Kyiv.

United KingdomThe room I was staying at (single room) was quite basic and small, so it's not the kind of room you'd want to stay at for more than a week. It was also relatively cold there during the night and early morning (in October time). There's only one socket that I could find, so if you need to have a computer plugged in or to charge your phone, the electric heater has to go off. The only other option is the air conditioner which you can put on high temperature setting (as I was advised), but it didn't do much really and was still cold. Perhaps the larger rooms in this hotel might be a better option.
I decent small hotel at an affordable price and very friendly and helpful staff. It's a cozy, quiet place, so it's suitable if you prefer smaller, more peaceful places to stay at. It's not far from the centre and the nearest metro station is about a 15 minute walk (in Kiev, metro is the fastest way to get around really). Its single room is at quite an affordable price, considering most hotels in Kiev would cost you 2x or more, so if you're planning to be spending a lot of time exploring Kiev rather than staying in your room, then it's a good place to go for.

TurkeyThe room's furniture is old, bathroom needs renovation. The hotel did not accept a credit card and I had to deal with the issue to arrange my payment. They accepted USD but with their rate which was slightly less than any banks. The communication was kind of a problem because of the language gap but I was lucky that there was another person who spoke Ukrainian at that time and he helped me to deal with the check-in progress.
The hotel’s location was good. It was close to the city center. Walk-able distance to some sightseeing areas.

North MacedoniaI arrived at 23:30 and I found the front door closed. I had to call in order to get in. I informed the hotel through Booking that I would check in late on week in advance and the reply was positive. The receptionist couldn't care less! She charged me extra UAH 400 saying that the original booking deal was no longer valid!!!

GermanyTerrible hotel, I would not categorically recommend it. The service is disgusting! There are obviously stay regulations that were not explicitly communicated. It turns out that access to the hotel is allowed until 11.00 pm or from 7.00 am. I immediately had a question, do I spend an hour in a hostel or in a hostel for 1360 UAH a day?! Of course, my wife said that she wanted to return to our room later, as I have the right to walk around Kiev at night ... A storm of discontent met us and we finally got the key to the front door. On the second day, when my wife left the room, The Manager was asked very rudely, "When are you leaving?" My wife said in a calm tone that maybe they could come at lunchtime to clean up. The adventure is just beginning! In the evening, back in our room, she decided to lie down .... at 8.30pm there was a short knock on the door and immediately opened my room door with my key. My wife wasshocked, almost without clothes (She did not expect a visit), and asked: "And what does that mean?" My wife received the answer "I saw that your light is on." It is logical that in the evening the light in the room can be switched on !!!! I don't speak Russian and just because I'm a foreigner, to equate my wife with a prostitute is really outrageous, an inexcusable insinuation. I have never encountered such absolutely disrespectful, undignified and dishonouring treatment in my life, and I wouldn't even wish it on my enemies! Absolute mega impudence! Of course, the national currency in Germany is EURO and for add suitcase storage we should pay not expected 750 UAH, but she had only € in hands. We didn't even occur to us beforehand that we could be associated with the horizontal trade. That wasn't all, rating allow only 2000 letters
I live in Germany with my wife and we were on holiday in Ukraine. Unfortunately, Kiev had to leave early for work reasons. We see it as normal to meet friends in the home country as well. Because of the relative proximity to the train station, I had decided to choose the hotel. As an overall conclusion, I would describe our stay as being in hell. At first glance, the royal-style hotel looks attractive from the photo. Unfortunately, this is the only plus point as the rooms are already worn out. Lean and unkempt at the reception (it's hard to call her an adequate person, besides she is the owner of the hotel), will ruin your holiday for sure, because she obviously completely misjudges situation.
