Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United StatesDo not book using booking.com as they seem to show a partner offer but never share an invoice with you. Contacting booking.com multiple times has resulted in automated responses every single time with no help being offered. If you have any problem with your booking or need help, booking.com does not support for ‘partner offers’. You are never told who the partner is.
Excellent location. We got a room at the 20th floor and everything was quiet though right in the middle of the city. Clean, big room considering the location. The bathroom was large, much more so than you would expect. Luggage storage available before checkin.

She was very helpful and friendly and even recommended a great restaurant in the area. I hadn't slept in a while on my plane ride and I really appreciated how quiet and dark the room stayed so I could get some good rest.

United StatesWe rented this apartment because of the location and after reading good reviews. But I'd say I'm rather disappointed. First, I needed to text the host all the time: no check-in information, no wifi password, nothing was provided, so you have to call/text all the time. Idk, why make it all that complicated - if tens of other properties send you one letter before check-in and you're all set with everything. Secondly, that's a very tiny space on the basement floor, with the ceilings so low that my husband who is a tall guy, was almost touching the ceiling with his head ;) And had to bend his neck using shower. Also, as it's mostly technical floor, there's no soundproofing of any kind, so you can hear every step of the people above. How they get to the bathroom, when they are up in the morning, etc. We were lucky there were no jumping kids or something, but hearing every step is not ideal. Thirdly, when someone upstairs was taking a shower, the ceiling leaked badly! The water dropping on the TVset receiver does not seem very safe. And judging by the stains on the room and bathroom ceilings, the problem is not new. Just ignored. (When I reported the issue to the host, noone ever even said 'we are sorry'. They just requested pictures.) I didn't also like that you cannot make AC cooler or hotter, it cannot be set from that room. So... won't definitely be back. I'd rather have a motel for this money.
The location is really good: close to Blue line, so it's easy to get to downtown or airport (which was important for us 'cause we had an early flight). The apartments are clean, the bed comfortable, everything as described (besides the missing hairdryer).

United States1) No instructions were sent in advance. When I came to check in around 6 pm, I had to call to get the door codes. They didn't answer and gave a callback. It was annoying as I was in a terrible rush and I needed to check in as fast as possible. What's the problem with sending the codes when the time of check-in comes? 2) When I came to the room around 11 pm, there WAS NO CONNECTION at all. No phone calls, no SMS, no internet. And I did not know the wifi password. I could not ask the owner because (see above) there was no connection at all. Is that hard to put the wifi password somewhere in the room? 3) The bed sheets were so old that it was uncomfortable to use them. 4) It was too hot in the room for me, but I did not find a way to decrease the heat. 5) It was noisy in the room because of the "technical" room, see photos. The drier was working when I came back at 11 pm. Does that mean somebody was there after my check-in?? Or drier was working for more than 5 hours? Anyway, I felt totally unsafe and uncomfortable because of all that.
The apartment looks nice despite the low ceiling. The kitchen is well-equipped. The location is good. 10-minute walk to the Blue Line station. 7 eleven stores nearby.

United StatesThe bathroom was clogged and the property manager asked us to unclog it ourselves! She was very rude. She called us "Fuc...ing As..holes" "crazy" and "stupid people." The room is a low basement and the ceiling height is merely 6.1. One tiny bedroom and even tinier kitchen, no closet or living room. It feels like solitary confinement. The door of the building was open and the lock malfunctioned. They didn't send us the wifi password. We left after an hour and asked booking.com for a refund. We received only 15% back. Very bad experience, both with this property and booking.com customer service.

The host was incredibly nice. The apartment is separated from the rest of the apartment, it has its own kitchen and bathroom, and the only thing connecting them is the main entrance. But we did not even notice the host during our whole stay, except for the meeting during the arrival. All and all, great experience in a small, cozy apartment in a great location (the nearby subway takes you to downtown in like 40 minutes).
