Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThere are no on-site staff and you need to download a key app to access the hotel and your room. Digital key via app may cause difficulties to get in. The hotel rooms overlooking the street are very nice but very noisy (day and night). The direct area around the place is full of homeless people
Clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Nice room.

AustraliaThere are no on-site staff and you need to download a key app to access the hotel and your room. We had some technical difficulties with this through no fault of our own and no one to help us on arrival. Our first telephone call went unanswered. Took a while before we could get in. The area is great but simultaneously there are some confronting characters on the streets. This was fine for us but something travellers should be mindful of.
Room size was great with a big bay window looking out into the street. It was clean and felt fresh. The shared bathroom was very clean and modern. Very comfortable hotel and felt like a safe space inside. Accommodation in SF is very expensive and this one was on the more affordable side. Some awesome bars nearby. Free coffee and tea provided - yay!

United StatesStreet parking is supposed to be available but good luck finding any. Nearest parking garage is about 3-4 blocks away so plan to bring a rolling suitcase that you don’t have to carry. There are a lot of homeless in the area, they are lined all down the front of Mission Street and the front of the hotel. They weren’t rude or intrusive but I did worry a little bit being female and only with my daughter. If you leave the property through the patio it’s more comfortable. Lastly, there was no AC. The weather was warm when we went so it was a little warm for us in the room even with the w window open.
Shower was beautiful! Outdoor patio area was nice as well. Location was really good, just 2-3 short blocks from Valencia. The place was clean and well maintained.

United StatesThe mask policy and push to not use the common rooms don't make sense and seems not very guest friendly. People have moved on, and masks should be optional and guest should be able to congregate in the break rooms if they feel like it. Also, although pretty nice, the room we stayed in really could use some shelves or night stands, two chairs instead of one, and the mattress was really warn on one side.
The check in and building & room access process was great. The toilets and shower rooms were clean and well stocked. It was not an issue to have shared bathrooms.

United KingdomThere was a funny smell throughout, which was quite musty. The hotel can't help it, but the rows of homeless people outside could put people off stating here. I had no problems at all, bit it could make people feel unsafe, particular a woman on their own.
It was a private room and there was minimal noise during my stay. I spent minimal time here and it was a good base. I stayed in multiple places across the US during a months stay. This was the most expensive and unfortunately I rate it as the worst. San Francisco prices will play a part in that. Not a bad stay at all though.

United KingdomNeighbourhood was a tad sketchy at times (for someone not knowledgeable about SF areas) - homeless were frequently in front of the door. Part of the area - and no trouble. Room key was difficult for two people to have at the same time (may just be us, but app was a bit awkward at times). Room smelt of sick - not sure if someone had been or if it was the vacuum that had been used!
Quiet(er) room at the end of the corridor which was close to the bathrooms. Easy check in via phone app. Everything was clean and tidy including bathrooms. Valencia street nearby was a great recommendation. Comfy bed.

DenmarkWe flew in From Denmark and had no data here. Therefore it was very annoying that you had to use an internetbased key app to get in to the hotel. I can imagine other tourists with the same problem. Very small rooms, walls seemingly made of paper.

New ZealandThe check-in procedure with a digital key via app did not work for me. I hear it has caused issues with others too. Possibly because the verification code needed to be sent by text to my NZ mobile nr. I was very lucky another guest was able to let me inside and there was a maintenance guy there, who sorted me out with a physical key for the duration of my stay. I'm pretty sure that was not part of his job, but he was aware the app often had issues. No reception staff onsite at any point. The direct area around the place is full of homeless people and I can imagine I would feel very unsafe arriving after dark and having issues with getting into the building promptly as I did. Communal areas closed due to Covid restrictions (which is understandable) but price for the stay usually includes free breakfast and there were no (free) alternatives offered, nor was it clear before arrival no breakfast would be offered. Access to cold drinking water and tea/coffee fortunately not an issue
Nicely renovated 2 story guest house. Bedrooms and bath rooms were excellent.
