Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere were a few times we went looking for a staff member, but they were out of the office. We were able to text with questions, which was great. We understood they were working, so it wasn’t a big problem at all.
The breakfast was perfect! It was everything that I needed and more. We loved having access to the bikes. The Inn was welcoming and homey. So much so that I felt comfortable being barefoot. We loved the wine and cheese hour.

AustraliaWe stayed on the first floor opposite reception and we could hear a lot of noise and talking early in the morning as people were checking out. Wasn't a huge problem for us and it is to be expected in such an old building but worth pointing out in case this bothers you (or you could ask to not be in that room).
This is a beautiful building and the rooms are wonderfully furnished, the bed was so comfortable and all the little details were thought of including robes, nice toiletries, coffee etc. The breakfast was simple but perfect, with everything being really high quality. Happy hour with wine and a cheese platter each day was delightful. The owners and staff were super friendly and helpful pointing us in the right direction for everything we wanted to do for our stay in the city. I would recommend this for a luxurious getaway.

United StatesIf you want an elevator or in-room microwaves or refrigerators, then you might need a more standard stay. I would challenge you though to let go and immerse yourself in a historic experience. Parking is $29 per day, which is a bit of a bummer but for a guaranteed space it's %100 worth it.
WARNING: Staying at this location will ruin all of your other hotel experiences :D. Hoteling has changed quite a bit, and service is not at all what it used to be, but 86 Cannon sets the standard, and they have policies that support a great experience that many hotels don't have. The property is outstanding. I spent quite a bit of time soaking in the sun on one of two glorious piazzas. They also have a library on the third floor. The hotel feels like home and I had to resist the urge to walk about the property in my pajamas and bed slippers. It's quiet, clean, and restorative. The staff was incredible, and I have to give a special shoutout to Megan and Karly for being so kind and attentive to all things all the time. I'm vegan and I had an injury that needed ice and they kindly helped me get situated. The location is nestled in a quieter part of downtown yet within walking distance of shops and restaurants. If you want to experience hotelier excellence, stay here. It's a great reminder of how travel should be.

Communication is superb, their welcome, their service, their attention to detail, the hospitality was first class. 86 Cannon is perfect for a vacation in Charleston. United StatesBeautifully restored historic property that has all of the modern amenities, but maintains the southern charm. Nice room, amazingly comfortable Grand King bed. The sound machine is a nice touch. Wine and cheese hour was wonderful, with a personally prepared cheese board and wine in the upstairs library. breakfast was very good…quiches from local bakery, croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola. The weather was cold during our stay, but I look forward to enjoying the outdoor areas on my next stay! Elliott and Ashley were wonderful.

United StatesThis is a Charleston thing, NOT the resort, but bring bug spray. The nats bit me so badly while exploring the city.
I want every hotel to be like 86 Cannon. We will definitely come back. Everything about our stay was exceptional. Thank you Ashley & Elliott for taking such good care of us!

United StatesNot a thing.
This was one of our most amazing stays in Charleston, and we go often. The attention to detail was incredible. From the stunning Garden Suite down to the locally sourced breakfast and wine+cheese hour. Eating breakfast on the piazza was my favorite part. The staff was there to serve you at every moment but almost disappeared so you don’t feel overwhelmed. I felt a little like a celebrity! I would stay here again tomorrow if I could. Absolutely amazing.
