Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt was for sure not what I was expecting - and probably not what you can imagine! Kurt and Kana create an amazing environment where you feel not only incredibly welcome, but also extremely comfortable. The room is great, location also great, breakfast is delicious - with a different menu everyday, full of fresh fruit - and they offer you literally everything you need (and more) to have the perfect stay in the Big Island!

United StatesThe drive to the house is a little difficult since the house is location is on sort steep mountain, but if you pay attention to the direction given by the owner and arrive in daylight, it should not be a problem. Don’t follow Google direction. Drive slowly and carefully after you get off the main road.
The location of the house is wonderful with beautiful views of the mountains and ocean and surrounded by coffee trees , macadamia trees, and all sorts of tropical fruits. The balcony is very spacious and cozy. I could stay there for whole day. The breakfast serviced couldn’t be better with nice bread or home made quiche, fresh and sweet fruits from their garden , and Kona coffee from their plantation. It exceeds my expectations.

United StatesThe drive from the main road was a bit bumpy. Nothing our Jeep couldn’t handle.
We walked in and first looked out across the Pacific, it was breathtaking. Waves crashing against the volcanic reefs far below, headlands jutting out into the ocean, and beautiful sunsets. The breakfasts were wonderful, homebaked scones, fresh fruit from their farm.

United StatesWe liked everything even the steep driveway was manageable.
Kurt and Kana were delightful and very personable. Kurt shared a wealth of knowledge of the area, but not in an intrusive way. We had the the 2nd floor room with spectacular views. The bed was very comfortable, the room clean and fresh, plenty of room with a large balcony, and the breakfasts were wonderful. The breakfasts always included fresh fruits from the farm including their own grown Kona coffee. We highly recommend staying here. Just one item is that the driveway in is a bit steep and narrow in places so you'll need to drive slowly and carefully on the property.

The warmth of the hosts is particularly noteworthy. We had a wonderful time and can highly recommend this accommodation. As with the other reviews, the breakfast is absolutely delicious. We miss the chatting in the morning during our breakfast. Thanks a lot! Note: As Kurt was on vacation, we had Elaine & Wayne as Hosts. :-)

CanadaBreakfast was AMAZING! Beautifully prepared, using fresh fruits from the farm. Coffee is to die for. The property was tucked away such that you feel completely removed from 'regular life', even though you are located close to anything you might need.

AustriaThe drive down to the hotel is a bit adventourus. So make sure to arrive during daylight when driving down there the first time. I got good instructions from Kurt so I had no problems with finding my way. I had a normal car and it was fine to drive but I had to drive very slow, I guess a Jeep would be a better option.
The room was very comfy and the shared bathroom was clean and I had everything what I needed. The bed was very comfy and I sleeped really good. I really loved the selfmade breakfast every morning with fresh fruits from the garden. I got something different every day. The view from the balcony was marvelous! Kurt was very nice and shared a lot of tips for nice markets and snorkeling spots. I could also borrow snorkeling gear and a cooling box. As I stayed more than 3 days I could also use the laundary service. I would definitely come back to this place again and again!

United StatesThe driveway was scary at first but ended up never being a problem. I had a video of driving it but it won’t load here so just drive SLOW. We made it several times in a full size rental.
Kurt and Kana were fantastic hosts! So friendly and generous with their home, hospitality, conversation. The room was spacious, separate from other guests except for breakfast on the lanai. Views from our private lanai complete with exquisite sunsets.

GermanyThe drive down the road was a bit scary if you come when it’s dark. Plan accordingly if you don’t know the area. Hawaii gets dark really fast and if you are driving down to a place like like the Edgy, it may be a bit scary. But Kurt met us at the entrance with a light to guide us. The best day we laugh about the drive and we enjoy the small drive down the Edge.
I enjoyed the location, but I enjoyed meeting Kurt and Kana more. They were nice people and treated us well. The food was amazing. I never experienced bed and breakfast. This experience was very unique because we had fresh fruits and something new everyday. Thank Doctor Kurt and I hope one day we can met again. Mahalo!

Even more, Kana makes an incredibly delicious breakfast and the coffee is outstanding. If vacationing on Big Isalnd, then only with Kurt and Family: thank you very much, we enjoyed our stay. United StatesThe drive into the property is an adventure in itself. The hosts (Mary and Joe) were fabulous and treated us just like family. The breakfasts were excellent and it was very relaxing. There are only three units so you felt like you were in a house and it was never crowded. we had the top “crows nest” unit and were surrounded by wonderful views out of every window. The cooler weather at the higher elevation of the plantation was a nice plus.

United StatesIncredible view, spacious, private room, delicious locally-grown breakfast and coffee, very close to some excellent snorkeling spots, and friendly hosts. Couldn't ask for a better experience! The only caution I'll give future travelers is that driving to this property involves negotiating some steep, narrow, and unpaved sections of road. It's passable with a normal sedan but a little "exciting", especially if its dark or raining, so just be prepared for that.
